In May, our youth volunteered 319 hours, making our community a better place. Here are the highlights:
💥This month, youth volunteered at Curious ComiCon and Volunteer Nanaimo’s monthly craft market, where we sold our self-made Cyanotype cards and bags.
🎉 Youth who volunteered at the Maple Sugar Festival enjoyed a fun bowling outing.
🌱 We continued our work at the native plant garden in Beaufort Park and removed invasive blackberry bushes at our adopted park, Diver Lake.
🌈 Ongoing Engagements: We maintained our regular activities, including Guitar Lessons, Safe Space Meetings, Planning Sessions, Study Groups, and Game Nights. Additionally, we hosted an Identity and Media Workshop series.

Our youth celebrated by marching in the Pride parade. It was a fantastic event filled with joy.
We volunteered at the NCDC’s Family BBQ ☀️. We helped with face painting and assisted with food service. It was heartwarming to see the joy on the faces of the children and families. Thank you .cdc for the great work you do in our community.
Father’s Day is around the corner and Volunteer Nanaimo is hosting a craft market featuring local, handmade, unique gifts.
Join us on Saturday, June 8 from 11am-4pm at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
Our youth will be selling handmade cyanotype cards to raise funds for our Volunteer Nanaimo youth programs.
We volunteered with the Wellington Action Committee to help remove invasive plants along Loudon Walkway. 🌱
Last weekend, our youth team created a beautiful pathway in the native plant garden at Beaufort Park. 🌱 Stay tuned for our grand opening later in June!

In April, our youth volunteered 346 hours, making our community a better place. Here are the highlights from this month:
🎉 National Volunteer Week: We volunteered at the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon hosted by Volunteer Nanaimo and celebrated the diverse cultures within our community.
🌱 Earth Month: We promoted volunteerism and environmental stewardship at the City of Nanaimo’s Earth Day event. This month, we also planted more shrubs at the native plant garden in Beaufort Park, pulled invasive species at Diver Lake Park, and cleaned up garbage.
🌈 Ongoing Engagements: We continued our regular activities including Guitar Lessons, Safe Space Meetings, Planning Sessions, Study Groups, and Game Nights. In addition, we hosted an Identity and Media Workshop series.
Volunteer Nanaimo Monthly Craft Market: Volunteer Nanaimo hosted its first Craft Market with the support of our youth.

Youth 20/20 Can Project
Youth 20/20 Can is a volunteer project for youth 15-29. The project engages youth to be involved, share ideas, get connected, have fun and to make a difference by helping to shape the communities they live in. Youth also have the opportunity to participate in valuable workshops on volunteer management, employment planning and community development. This page will share information about brainstorming and planning meetings, projects and events and allow members of the Youth 20/20 Can team to connect with other members and to share ideas in the Ladysmith, Nanaimo & Parksville areas.
