The Royal Canadian Army Cadets appeal to teenagers craving exciting outdoor activities where their personal limits as individuals and team-members will be tested. 2422 C Scot R (Princess Mary’s) Cadet Corps - Nanaimo’s 71st Annual Ceremonial Review. This year, we were honoured to have Inspector Andrew Burton with Nanaimo RCMP as our Reviewing Officer. Insp Burton is a former C Scot R cadet (Alberni) and addressed the cadets explaining how his experience as a cadet lead him down the path to success in becoming a commissioned officer with the RCMP. We were also honoured to have representatives from The Canadian Scottish Regiment - Princess Mary's, The Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's) Women’s Auxiliary, The C Scot R Cadet Old Guard, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 Nanaimo, Royal Canadian Legion Mt Benson Branch 256, Lantzville Legion 257, Regional Cadet Support Unit (Pacific), and the Pacific Gael Pipe Band.
Congratulations to all the cadets for completing their training year, and a shout out to all the cadets who earned awards from their hard work throughout the training year!
2422 cadets spent the past 12 hours, overnight, taking turns standing guard on the Nanaimo Cenotaph to pay tribute to our fallen soldiers. This event was held in conjunction with 206 Air Cadets and 136 Sea Cadets.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Today, November 8, is Indigenous Veterans Day.
Indigenous soldiers are vital to maintaining national security and in war time, were instrumental in Canada’s victory in World War 2. On specific feat to note, we’re the indigenous code talkers. At that time, the German forces were monitoring our communications and would intercept strategic plans making it almost impossible for Canadians to communicate between troops. Indigenous code talkers transmitted key messages in their native tongue which were impossible for German forces to interpret, allowing for Canadian forces to organize and execute pivotal operations.
Today, we honour these soldiers and remember the lives lost in service to Canadians.
Lest we forget.
Today is Indigenous Veterans' Day and we’re honouring the important contributions Indigenous Peoples have made in their service with the Canadian military.
Indigenous Peoples continue to proudly serve in operations at home and around the world. Currently, more than 2,700 First Nations, Inuit, and Métis serve with the Canadian Armed Forces, from junior member to the most senior of generals.
On this most solemn of days, we thank you for your service.

Another successful day of poppy campaign!
Huge shout out to those who helped out with the campaign this year. The legion appreciated our help.

Our cadets were out helping with the Royal Canadian Legions poppy campaign today.
The poppy campaign begins two Fridays prior to Remembrance Day, and goes up till after remembrance services on November 11.
Every year, cadets across the country help their local Legions distribute poppies to the community and a sign of remembrance for service members who lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as the families affected by armed conflicts.
We’re proud to be part of this years campaign. if you see one of our cadets, or any other cadet or legion member handing out poppies, please take one and wear it with pride.

Looking for a treasurer, secretary and fund raiser.

NOTICE OF AGM: September 26, 2022, 1800-1900, Nanaimo Armouries - 709 Nanaimo Lakes Road.
Are you interested supporting the Nanaimo Army Cadet corps?
The support committee for 2422 C Scot R Army Cadets is hosting their annual general meeting and electing this years support committee members. Positions up for election include but are not limited to:
Chairperson
Vice chairperson
Treasurer
Secretary
Recruitment director
Fundraising director
Director at large
You do not need a background in any of these fields and will be coached by the Army Cadet League of BC should you be elected into a position. Nominees can be any community member, but are commonly parents of cadets in program due to the close connection with the corps.
The support committee is responsible for fundraising money to pay for cadet activities and equipment not included in the base program offered by DND. This takes the basic cadet experience to a new level and offers an amazing local program. The SC is also responsible for arranging accomodations, recruitment of cadets and staff, and assisting the corps with events.
If you are interested, please come out to our AGM or contact the chair, Janine Stokoe, at [email protected] for more information.
Tomorrow is our first night back! The evening will involve updating your registration forms and health questionnaires. You will need to bring one parent and/guardian with you and they are asked to stick around to go over the forms and complete them.
Parents will have a chance to meet the corps staff and the support committee and will be offered light refreshments. Please anticipate to be around the corps for about an hour or so to complete the required forms for your cadet(s).
Cadets will have a chance to exchange uniform parts they may have outgrown, so if the uniform does not fit, wear appropriate clothing and bring the parts that need immediate exchanging.
This is also a great night to bring any friends who may be interested in our program. They will have a chance to ask questions and tour LHQ with no obligation to join. So if you have friends who are interested but unsure, bring them out!
Dress is C5 uniform (or business casual if you don’t have a uniform / outgrown your uniform).
Timings 1800-2100.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Happy September, Everyone!
Monday, September 12, will be our first evening back for cadets.
We ask all new and returning cadets to bring a parent/guardian with you to complete all the registration paperwork. There will be light refreshments for parents to enjoy while they complete the paperwork for their cadet and meet the staff/support committee.
This year, we also need to confirm COVID vaccinations for cadets who want to participate in overnight activities (this is a Provincial requirement). Please bring your vaccination card with the dates you received your two doses. If you have not received vaccinations, you can still participate in cadet activities; however, you will not be permitted to participate in overnight/weekend excercises.
Returning cadets, dress will be C5 uniform.
Timings are 1800-2100.
Looking forward to seeing you all,
Capt Bough

Happy anniversary 2422! Yesterday was officially our 70th year of being a cadet corps!
For ACR this year, it would be amazing if we could get a group of cadets interested in researching the history of 2422 and putting together a static display. Are you up for the challenge?
The ACLC BC Branch would like to congratulate the 2422 RCACC on their 70th anniversary! What a significant milestone! Thank you to the Military partners, Support Commitee members, Volunteers, and Cadets for contributing to their Corps and community!

Indigenous Peoples - Veterans Affairs Canada Remember Canada’s Veterans
November 5-11 is known as Veterans week, when we honour the women and men who put their lives on hold, answered the call to serve their country, left their loved ones behind and risked their lives with the ultimate goal of having a better World for everyone.
This week, we reflect back on these times and remember the souls that never returned and the families who’s lives were forever changed by the tragedies of war.
This year will look different. While cadets will not be involved in poppy campaigning, vigils, or remembrance ceremonies across the country, we can still take time to reflect and remember.
I challange you all to find a poppy and wear it for this week. You can also share the link for the Royal Canadian Legion’s virtual poppy campaign where you can donate and have virtual poppy dedicated to a fallen sailor, soldier or airman. I will post the link for the virtual poppy in the comments.
The poppy campaign is a fundraising event that has very strict rules as to how the fundraisers dollars are distributed. The priority of this fund is to help veterans by paying for wheelchairs, modifications to houses to allow for accessibility, retrofitting vehicles for disabled person, etc. Secondly, the poppy fund gives back to our local community. It donates to local cadet corps, scholarships for youth pursuing higher education, donating to local non-profits etc. The legion itself does not benefit from the poppy funds.
Please share this information and let’s help the legion have a successful poppy campaign this year!
