A wonderful scent can stop us in our tracks and cause us to pause. Today's mini-meditation is about intentionally seeking out a pleasant smell to help you pause and focus.
Pausing to fully savour something you're eating or drinking is a good way to focus your mind and be present. Who knew that eating could be meditative?!
Try meditating with your eyes open today! Fix your gaze. Slow your mind, if only for a few moments.
Scattered mind? Join my straightforward mini-meditation challenge this week. Even if you only try one of the challenges, you will have practiced being present in the moment. Just a quick update now that I'm back in Ottawa. I visited the studio yesterday to see and SMELL 😮💨 the damage. I'm still waiting for an appointment with the insurance adjustor, so I will be cancelling next week's classes as I don't expect work to be started this week. I feel so bad that I can't serve the Yoga Kāla community right now, so please let me know if you're interested in access to previously recorded yoga classes... I'll see what I can do.
We are thankful that no one was hurt in this morning's fire, but very sad that the family-owned restaurant iCook Persian Cuisine was decimated. Our studio sustained smoke, soot and minor water damage, and firefighters had to smash through our front doors to gain access. We are closing for at least one week. We will post updates here as things evolve. Thanks for the messages of support and offers of help! We expect an insurance evaluation today or tomorrow. I am out of the country on a family holiday and am grateful that my sister was in Ottawa to check things out and get in touch with the insurance company... Canadian toll-free numbers don't work in the Dominican Republic!
I was advised of a fire in our plaza last night. I am out of the country but I have someone checking on smoke or other damage. Stay tuned for any required schedule changes. Thanks to Ottawa News Network for the early morning photo.
