"The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by le***an, gay, bis*xual, trans, inters*x people, and all of those with diverse s*xual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and s*x characteristics."
May 17th, 1990, is a significant date in history, as it marks the day when the World Health Organization declassified homos*xuality as a mental disorder. Each year on this day we commemorate globally, IDAHOBIT.

The Family Services Ottawa team attends Family Service Ontario Conference in Toronto
Elyse Schipper, Executive Director, and Rebecca Fromowitz, Associate Executive Director of Family Services Ottawa, express their sincere appreciation for the opportunity to convene alongside peers from family service organizations spanning Ontario at Queens Park.
"We extend our thanks to Hon. Charmaine Williams, Minister of Women Social and Economic Opportunities for the Government of Ontario, for talking with us about our ongoing collaborative efforts to support women and families. We are also grateful for MPP John Fraser's participation, as we commemorate 50 years of impact among family service organizations across Ontario. Mr. Fraser's longstanding dedication to bridging partnerships within community-serving organizations like ours has been invaluable. It was so nice to talk about what we can do together locally in our Ottawa hometown."
This is your reminder that taking care of yourself is NOT selfish.
Single session counselling focuses on a problem that is affecting your life today, without asking a lot of questions about the past. Counsellors work to support you in getting “unstuck” or back on track.
For many people a single session can offer emotional relief and increased hope so they can move forward. At Family Services Ottawa, we provide two ways for people to get quick access to single session counselling: https://familyservicesottawa.org/services-and-programs/quick-access-single-session/
As we observe , consider sharing this message with those who could benefit from the reminder 🤍

We extend warm wishes to all who are celebrating Ramadan. Sadly, Ramadan comes at a time when global conflict and Islamophobia, locally and around the world, have led to stress, trauma and many members of the Ottawa region’s Muslim community to feel unsafe.
To our Muslim patients, clients, colleagues, friends and neighbours: we denounce all forms of hatred and will always stand up for the rights of all people, of all faiths, to live in safety and security, free from intimidation and violence. Your health and community service providers wish healing, wellness and safe observance during this Holy Month.
Ramadan Kareem.
