PLANTAR FASCIOPATHY
Causes: Part 2 of 3
The pain associated with plantar fasciopathy is due to blood flow being cut off from the artery that runs down the inside of your foot.
This can be caused by:
- Footwear with an elevated heel or a narrow toe box
- High training volume and intensity with not enough rest
- Standing for long periods of time on a hard surface
- Poor flexibility in the foot and ankle
- Weak muscles in the foot and ankle
Stay tuned for potential ways to treat your plantar fasciopathy in the next post.
PLANTAR FASCIOPATHY

Pain is typically localized near the heel.

- Pain in the morning upon waking with the first few steps out of bed
- Pain decreases with activity, only to return following acitivty
- After periods of inactivity, pain increases again with movement
- Painful to massage along the heel
- As severity increases, pain may be present with standing and worsen with activity
Following along for potential causes and treatments in parts 2 and 3!

This week in Port Moody we saw the removal of our old cherry blossom trees right outside our doorstep.
Port Moody has cleared the trees with the plans for a multi-use pathway for pedestrians and cyclists that would have damaged their roots.
We sure will miss their solid, sturdy trunks, and their pink petal blossoms that covered the grass and sidewalks in the spring.
Picture taken in 2021 under the shade of the trees.
Our clients and our staff can’t wait to see what you’re replanting !
Days like today remind us it’s still winter.
It’s been a while social!
We have been busy in the clinic taking care of our community, and have some news to share very soon.
Stay tuned for some new faces and four legged friends!
Heat Illness: Part 2
It’s getting hot out there so we thought it would be helpful to give you all tips on how to exercise during a heat wave.
The goal? Avoid heat illness.
So, scroll down for info on how to stay well and keep training in the heat.
🔴Drop the Intensity
—It’s simple: the greater the intensity the greater the risk of heat related symptoms
🟠Take Breaks
—Even a 5 minute break can significantly drop your core temperature
🟡Rotate Players
—This one is for team sports, coaches rotate your players or try rotating training methods
🟣Water, often
—Water before, during, and after activity, and extra water for wetting faces, clothes, and hair
🔵Avoid 11am-3pm
—Best to skip the hottest part of the day
🟢Stop/Start
—Duration exercise is more of a problem than stop start training
🟡Check Airflow
— Is there AC? A breeze? A fan? Check before you commit to it
🟠Swap to Indoors
—If available, an indoor space out of the sun’s glare with cool AC blasting will keep you comfortable
Hope these tips helped you feel ready for safely exercising in the heat!
If you have any of your own tips let us know (we’ve been hearing fun cooling methods from our clients this week, and we just love how creative everyone is!)
Mitch’s favourite? Freezing a water bottle for keeping his drink cold for longer.
Trust the Australians, right?

The importance of good pre-hab.
Pre-jab is short for pre-rehabilitation. It has become widely used in many medical conditions including joint replacements, spinal surgeries, and even cancer surgeries.
The effectiveness of pre-hab is all about getting your body as ready for surgery as can be.
Physiotherapists know pre-hab.
We see clients before and after surgery.
We can help to get your body ready for what comes next.
So let’s get to work together.
Balance.
It’s Thursday and we’re thinking about balance in all it’s greatness.
Albert seems to know a thing or two about it. So if you don’t take our word for it, take his.
How does tape help?
Tape can be used on practically every part of the body, where it used as a supportive aid.
How?
Tape offloads, stabilizes, and protects.
Since it is attached to skin, it provides feedback to your body. This feedback reminds you to that the area needs extra support - which you do with your own muscles.
Rigid tape works in a different way, it is used mostly to limit movement and support joint structures.
Bonus: Special tape application can also help resolve bruising quicker!
Our therapists can help tape you up, and get you back to better health.
Ask us how in your physio sessions!
Get your gear ready for the long weekend.
2 day countdown is on!
Best way to stay warm during the winter months? Warm clothes and lots of activity!
As Canadians, the cold never bothered us anyways
Jumping into the weekend.
We’re ready for it, and then some outdoor movement therapy.
