Mindful Eating March post of the day is a recipe! We wanted to feature a vegetarian, easy and quick meal that focuses on using what you might already have and in a more sustainable way. Instead of using animal products to enjoy a burger in the spring and summer, try out this plant focused burger that we highly recommend! Let us know in the comment if you’ve made plant-based burgers before and if you’d try this one! 🍔🌱🌿🥒
Hey EUS Students! For the next 2 weeks we will be doing our Mindful Eating March series to highlight some important ways you can change your eating habits to better the environment around you! For today, we wanted to highlight Nose-to-tail eating which talks about using every bit of an animal or produce we consume. We encourage you to try this out and see if you can implement it into your day to day lives. Keep an eye out for tomorrow’s post where we highlight our first sustainable recipe for your folks to try out! 🥪🌿🥒🍏

Hey there Bookworms! For this week’s EUS Book Club, we have a very interesting and exciting book recommendation from our team member, James! He has recommended the book ‘Braiding Sweetgrass’ by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
Braiding Sweetgrass is the story of the cultural clashes Kimmerer experienced between modern Americans and her family’s Potawatomi tribe. The author exemplifies the importance of reciprocity and connection to nature through personal anecdotes and modern scientific knowledge.
James loves this book because it is full of heartwarming and beautiful stories from Kimmerer’s childhood that are moving on their own, but also connect you with a deep sense of our need to act harmoniously with nature. The book made James feel all sorts of emotions, from laughing and crying to reflecting on our relationship with Earth as people. He loves how it connects Indigenous knowledge with modern scientific discoveries and how academics can learn so much from Indigenous knowledge.
This is a great book to read, especially if you’ve wanted to learn more about Indigenous communities and their history through stories filled with love and connection. If you’ve read this book, leave us a comment below, and if you have yet to read it, we hope you enjoy it! 🌿📚

The team at EUSSA would like to take a moment and recognize Indigenous Peoples who are/were survivors of Residential Schools, and those who lost their lives within them.
The day remembers residential school survivors, as well as their families, communities, and the kids who never made it home. An essential step in the healing process is public remembrance of the tragic and painful past and ongoing effects of residential schools.
