Are your days of active acne breakouts behind you but you’ve been left with acne scarring you wish wasn’t there?

Hiiiii microneedling!

Hyperpigmentation (red or brown colour changes to the skin) may respond to certain topical creams over time but that won’t address textural changes. Microneedling, also known as ‘collagen induction therapy’, uses tiny needles to pe*****te the outer layer of the skin. By going deeper and allowing our body to respond to this “micro-trauma” by sending collagen, elastin and other nutrients to the area to heal. This helps with textural changes and tone of skin by rebuilding the skin surface from the inside out.

Typically a series of 3-6 microneedling treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended to treat acne scarring.

Summer is leaving us shortly but that doesn’t mean we have to say goodbye to our youthful glow✨

Fall is the perfect time to kickstart your skincare routine and give yourself a little TLC. Book microneedling (aka collagen induction therapy) at Humanity Wellness to get your skin looking and feeling it’s best.

Acupuncture is always included so this treatment is partially eligible for use with your extended health care benefits!

Microneedling is used to help treat:
-fine lines and wrinkles of the face & neck
-acne scarring
-enlarged pores
-hyperpigmentation
-texture irregularities
-scar healing
-overall glow and bounce

Facial acupuncture is for everyone!✨

During a session we insert tiny needles into specific points to cause focused micro traumas to the skin. This signals to the body to send collagen, elastin and other nutrients, boosting blood and Qi flow to the area to heal.

All facials with me include LED light therapy🌈 for an extra dose of rejuvenation.

Body points are always included to help balance the entire bodies’ overall wellbeing.

With consistency, facial treatments help with:
🫶Fine lines and wrinkles
🫶Hyperpigmentation, redness
🫶Sagging skin
🫶Acne, psoriasis, eczema
🫶Dullness, dryness
🫶Uneven texture
Etc!

Hi! I haven’t introduced myself on here so here’s a little about me💕

🌀Hometown: Winnipeg, Manitoba
🌀Libra 🌞 / Aries 🌙 / Leo ⬆️
🌀1 dog: Oats, a corgi mix we rescued from Korea
🌀I met my fiancé at a music festival almost 7 years ago where we were both volunteering for harm reduction services
🌀Before I was an acupuncturist I was a dumpling roller, bartender, server, apple picker, garlic harvester… the list goes on
🌀Favourite food: tacos 🌮 or perogies 🥟 it’s impossible for me to choose
🌀Favourite country I’ve been to: Mexico…the dreamiest
🌀Graduated from the acupuncture program at Pacific Rim College in Victoria, BC with summa cm laude
🌀Some of my favourite moments in clinic are: When a patient and I have a “a-ha!” moment together in understanding something they’re going through by communicating in depth with one another. It’s a beautiful and profound moment when they feel like this is one of the first times they felt truly listened to by a practitioner after potentially years of not feeling understood or cared for by other medical systems.

Lots of love,
A🌹

SkinPen🪄
What is it?

SkinPen is the world’s first FDA-cleared microneedling device. This treatment is designed to activate the skin’s natural healing process. Following each session, the skin begins to heal itself, looking more renewed and rejuvenated over time.

How does it work?

SkinPen creates hundreds of thousands of “micro” skin punctures per second to stimulate the skin’s natural wound healing process - inflammation, proliferation, and remodelling - to prompt tissue remodelling without causing scar tissue to form. Most patients can return to normal activities within 24 hours.

Will it work for me?

Microneedling is a great treatment option for fine lines and wrinkles of the face, neck, chest and hands, for acne scarring, large pores, pigmentation issues including melasma, roseacea, scarring and stretch marks just to name a few treatment focuses.

Is it safe?

Yes- SkinPen patented and single-use sterile needle cartridge is built with safety in mind. It has been clinically tested and proven safe and effective.

Hi! 👋 SkinPen microneedling treatments are now available with me at Humanity Wellness!

Microneedling is a safe, effective and minimally invasive collagen induction therapy that is used to treat a wide range of skin concerns such as:

⚡️Fine lines and wrinkles of the face and neck
⚡️Acne scarring
⚡️Enlarged pores
⚡️Pigmentation issues
⚡️Uneven skin texture
⚡️+ more!

We chose the SkinPen Precision microneedling system because of its tested and verified safety and effectiveness among its 90+ validation studies. Unlike many other microneedling devices out there SkinPen is a medical grade device that has been FDA and Health Canada approved.

Have extended health care benefits for acupuncture? This treatment is eligible for partial coverage! This is because we start the treatment by applying numbing cream to the treatment area. While the cream is activating we do acupuncture to treat underlying issues and calm the nervous system.

You can always DM me if you have any questions or to see if this treatment is right for you

🦋 Blue Light Therapy (BLT) for Acne 🦋

BLT uses natural violet or blue light, within a specific wavelength range to affect the uppermost layer of your skin which can treat conditions on the skin or just beneath.

One of the most significant blue light therapy benefits is its ability to reduce and prevent acne. It does this by:

🌀 Destroying bacteria around the sebaceous glands that generate oil
🌀 Making the sebaceous glands product less oil

BLT destroys the DNA in Propionibacterium acnes, the bacterium that causes acne and its accompanying inflammation. By targeting bacteria at its source, the blue light can diminish acne and prevent future acne breakouts from happening. Preventing acne leads to less scarring while reducing oil and stabilizing oil glands enhances the skin and keeps it looking healthier overall.

Acne treatment is one of the most rapid-acting results of blue light therapy. After just a few treatments, many can already notice less breakouts. A series of 4-6 weekly treatments then monthly maintenance treatments are recommended for best results.

*LED light therapy is included in every acupuncture facial offering

🔘 Facial Cupping 🔘

We have 43 muscles in our face. Muscles that work hard daily to give us each our unique face, emote and chew.

Facial cupping uses small cups to help relax and tone these muscles as well as enrich our tissues with blood flow, boosting collagen production and stimulate our lymphatic system.

But how does it work?

With a well oiled face, neck and décolletage we create a gentle suction then glide along the skin, muscles and fascia with the glass or silicon cups. This draws blood flow towards the surface of the skin. The suction creates a micro-trauma to the skin (just like acupuncture does) and the body responds with a cascade of healing! This brings a flush of oxygenated blood flow, collagen and fibroblasts to the area to heal optimally.

This leaves our face feeling and looking plump, juicy and glowing.

🌈How LED works🌈

⚡️Using specific wavelengths of light we trigger a natural effect in tissues
⚡️Cells absorb particles of light (protons) and transform their energy into ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the form of energy that our cells use
⚡️This results in an increase of ATP which provides compromised cells with added energy to enhance performance
⚡️For example: fibroblast cells will increase collagen and elastin production in connective tissue to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and increase the rate of wound healing!

Research has shown that LED light therapy can
💥Increase circulation
💥Accelerate tissue repair
💥Kill acne bacteria
💥Decrease inflammation
💥Improve skin tone, texture and clarity

Things to know about cupping🔮

- Cupping can be done weekly as long as the marks fully clear before another session
- The marks aren’t bruises! They are stagnant blood, cellular debris or pathogens that are brought to the surface for the lymphatic system to clear away
- Marks can last anywhere from 4 days to over a week depending on blood circulation and skin regeneration
- After regular cupping sessions the marks tend to lighten, indicating improved blood flow and improvement of symptoms
- Not everyone leaves with dark cup marks, marks are very specific to the individual and are dependent on what’s happening internally (pain, limited blood flow, illness)

➰Late Summer : The 5th Season➰

➰Late August to Early September➰

Late Summer is considered a separate season in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the middle of the Chinese calendar, Late Summer is a transition time when we return to the middle, between the expansive growth of Spring and Summer (Yang energy) and the more inward energy of Fall and Winter (Yin energy).

Late Summer in Chinese medicine and philosophy is associated with the Earth element, which is just one of the five Chinese medicine elements that also include: Metal, Water, Wood and Fire – each associated with one of the seasons of the year.

In Chinese medicine, the Stomach and Spleen systems are at the centre of health, regulating and harmonizing the effects of seasonal extremes.

Now is the time to reinforce the vitality of the Earth element and Spleen system with acupuncture, food therapy, and mindfulness.

Foods that support the Earth element are:
🔸Millet
🔸Corn
🔸Sweet potatoes
🔸Chickpeas
🔸Rice
🔸Ginger
🔸Salmon

Habits to support the Earth element include:
🔻Not skipping breakfast
🔻Chewing your food well
🔻Eating slowly and mindfully (no screens at mealtimes)
🔻Eating warm foods

(Pictured above is needling Spleen 9, a point which encourages proper digestion by draining dampness)

🌀Cupping to support the Lymphatic system🌀

💦 The lymphatic system is our bodies natural cleansing and watering system, its main function is to transport lymph and white blood cells throughout the entire body, this protects the body against infections.

💦Cupping therapy moves lymph locally in the underlying tissues while also enhancing the natural draining process of various waste materials from our body such as lactic acid, heat and old, stagnant blood.

💦We can achieve this using lighter cupping techniques to address the more superficial layers of anatomy where lymph filtration occurs.

💦When we lift up the cups this gently opens the flat valves that are a part of the intermediate lymphatic drainage pathways. When lymph fluids become too thick and slow moving these valves are challenged which can result in edema and swelling.

04/22/2022

Where Botox creates stagnancy, facial acupuncture activates movement. This stimulates your own bodies natural healing responses to boost blood & nutrient flow and improve your overall complexion.

It’s also incredibly relaxing and you might fall asleep during the treatment☁️🕊

Stinging Nettle (𝘜𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘢)

🌱Every Spring while living on Vancouver Island I would look forward to how often I could spot some nettles growing in a damp forest, a yard or ditches around town. It evolved to be one of my favourites both visually and medicinally, especially the more familiar I became with it when I studied Western herbal medicine for 9 months prior to studying acupuncture.

🌱It’s well known for its anti-allergic properties due to high levels of histamines, making it helpful in cases of hayfever. It’s rich in beta-carotenes (provitamin A) which offers a protective effect to the surfaces and mucus membranes of the body which has a powerful impact on our immune system.

🌱It also has a strong connection to blood since its rich in iron and Vitamin C, often a useful remedy for anemia. Nettles are considered kidney tonic which help to thicken the head hair and enrich the blood. Traditionally nettles are used in the prevention of grey hair.

🌱Some of my favourite ways to consume nettles are teas or steamed. Steam is as if it were spinach!

🌱Happy sustainable and safe foraging!

🤰Cervical ripening acupuncture requires a minimal number of fine needles to regulate Qi and Blood to prepare for childbirth.

Weekly acupuncture helps the baby get into a good position, softens and promotes dilation of the cervix. Stimulation of certain acupuncture points prepares the cervix and pelvis for the smoothest labour possible. This can help with minimizing the hours in labour, reduces chances of needing an induction and harmonizing the body to encourage a smooth childbirth.

During these treatments we also have the opportunity to treat pregnancy related conditions such as hypertension, insomnia, heartburn and nausea.
