Meet Dawn Cassell, the newest member of our team here at Arts Indigenous Student Advising.
About Dawn:
Dawn Cassell is a proud Indigenous woman born and raised on Treaty 4 territory in Regina, Saskatchewan. Dawn earned her Masters degree in Educational Psychology in 2013, an Inclusive Education certificate in 2009 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 2002 from the University of Regina. She is passionate about education and continues to be an active supporter and activist for educational programming designed to empower Indigenous people and strengthen communities. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, gardening and spending quality time with her family and friends.
When asked what she was most looking forward to working with AISA, she said, “My role as an academic advisor will be critical. Supporting students as they navigate campus life and celebrate successes while making some significant decisions during their time at UBC will be my main priority. Being a university student can be a lot of fun but it is also a lot of work! It’s all about balance and at AISA we support our students at each step of their educational journey. I am truly looking forward to meeting everyone and building long lasting relationships within the UBC community.”
