The session at the EAA was a great success. Excellent audience participation and good sharing of archaeological experiences in relation to disasterand earthquakes. The PROTECT project also interested the audience very much!

At the following link it is possible to read in open access a recent paper published in the PCA European Journal of Post-Classical Archaeology concerning one of the archaeoseismological methods of documentation and analysis used to study the effects of historical earthquakes on some alleys in the historic centre of Siena.

Dear colleagues,
The EAA is approaching and I would like to share with you the draft of the program of the session #093 entitled "Post-Earthquake Scenarios in the Classical and Medieval Periods. Archaeoseismology as a Tool for Investigation on an Urban and Architectural Scale" .
The session, organised by Andrea Arrighetti, Laura Pecchioli, Judith Thomalsky and Ana Catarina de Freitas Alves Sousa, will be taking place between 2:00 pm and 6:30 pm on the 29th of August, but we don't yet know its precise location.
The discussion will be split in three blocks, with three presentation slots and a coffee break in between.
I hope to see many of you in Rome!

On the train back from a wonderful and very interesting workshop organised by Paolo Forlin, Andrea Augenti e Matthew Johnson at the University of Bologna. The presentation of the PROTECT project was a great success and, thanks to the discussion with many Italian and foreign colleagues, new perspectives and ideas were born.

The PROTECT project will participate in the workshop on 26 June at 12.00 a.m. with a speech entitled: The PROTECT project. Preliminary steps towards an operational protocol for the archaeoseismological study of a historic centre.

The event entitled “Archaeoseismological projects for knowledge, prevention and monitoring. Methodologies and issues at different scales of application” will involve numerous researchers and professors from European universities and research centres who have worked on archaeoseismology.
In particular, projects concerning the archaeoseismological analysis of international contexts of different periods will be presented, comparing techniques, methods and results.

Great success for the presentation of the book on Siena and earthquakes held at the Department of Historical Sciences and Cultural Heritage of the University of Siena on 6 October 2023.
The presentation was attended by: Nicoletta Fabio (Mayor of Siena), Aurora Cagnana (SABAP Genoa and La Spezia), Giovanna Bianchi (University of Siena), Hélène Dessales (ENS AOROC), Andrea Arrighetti (ENS AOROC).
There were about 50 people in the classroom and many other interested people connected online.
