Beautiful Spanish town on our lake run this morning!
Just taken my big brother for a nice run down to the lake for a coffee. The run back up was tough!

After nearly 3 weeks of not running because of a nasty viral infection, I finally found the energy to run these two around!

What a weekend! Golf (posh golf) at chart hills on sat for my brotherโs birthday.
Beers and a fire pit in the evening! ๐
Then a nice 20 mile run today that finished at west Hythe at a friends house for a bbq and the football!
I can get used to this!

I shouldnโt be playing multidirectional sport after straining my calf last week at footballโฆ..
But the sun is out and I love any excuse for a game of tennis. We were crap but thatโs not the point!

It was a big one this weekend with 24 hard miles today and 10 miles yesterday!
A huge thanks to my wife Rach for her support towards my training.
Not only did we have to divert going home yesterday so I could get changed in the back of the car and drop me off so I can then get my miles done.
Today she has taken the boys out whilst I have been out for hours on my long run and I havenโt been made to feel guilty - yet! ๐
To finish off, she even helped my take off my compression socks after my run because I kept cramping up when I tried - thatโs love ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ

What a run! 16miles on the north downs from farthing common - I just assumed it was a do***ng car park. I didnโt see any action ๐คทโโ๏ธ I think I was doing it wrong ๐
Anyway! The conditions were perfect! If anyone ants to join me for a slow 14 miles tomorrow Iโll be down on the canal.

Just finished a wet 10K with a client then Straight onto my 1st ever game of pickleball ๐คทโโ๏ธ I have no idea whatโs going on but what a funny sport!!

This week was the biggest running volume yet - 54 miles with a 20 yesterday and a 10 this morning.
After watching some videos of seasoned ultra runners I adopted a common trend of running in Zone 2!
Zone 2 is bloody boring!!
Zone 2 is not that much faster than a quick walk,
Zone 2 sucks!
Zone 2 is what is going to get me through the event - itโs just going to take ages!!

Today was a wet 10 mile shake out down at Hythe - it was wet and bloody lovely!!
It gave me a chance to test out some new gear - soft bottles with a long straw! Great time saver and much less faff!
And some new Hoka trail shoes with carbon plates ๐คทโโ๏ธ they are supposed to make me run faster - they didnโt!! But they were bloody comfy.

Before and after of todayโs long run - it should of been 18 miles but I got lost through a huge sodding sheep field ๐ซ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Itโs been a weekend of endurance for sure - having the boys whilst Rach was partying on a cruise ship all weekend ๐
Iโve still managed time to take the boys to get flowers and chocolates for Rach for when she got home, ingredients to cook a roast which I have already prepped for me to cook after my run.
Do I want a medal? Well yes!!
Not all heroes wear capes ๐

Lessons I learnt during todayโs 18 miles:
โข The fact that I found 18 quite tough today was a massive reality check! On the 6th of September I will be running 62 miles! ๐ซ๐คฆโโ๏ธ - future Dans problem!
โข Sat night treat of a Chinese and red wine was just awful sports nutrition in prep for a long run - probably the biggest reason today was hard. ๐
โข The government are lying to us! - itโs not spring, itโs actually still the middle of bloody winter! ๐ฅถ๐
โข Running with poles makes you look like a massive wan^*r! But quite handy when you do devils kneading trough at mile 7!
โข Running through Wye nature reserve on the north downs is just stunning! Check it out!
โข My banana at mile 12 was a great shout, but took about 20 mins to feel the effect of it!
If anyone wants to keep their running distance up after London marathon then get in touch - my long runs are on a Sunday and it would be great to have some company and try some new routes!

I got my long run done early this morning so it didnโt eat into family time. 18 miles today and I really felt it! ๐ซ

Itโs a big day all round!
Today is the official start of my 24 week training plan for the ultra marathon ๐โโ๏ธ
But more important than that, we welcome Christiane to the team who will be taking on the therapy room full time to offer clinical sports massage therapy services.

Fran was brave this morning, testing out my construction skills.
I didnโt have a single bolt or washer left so I must of done it right ๐คทโโ๏ธ
The leg press has currently been tested to 100kg and the hack squat to 50kg and so far so good ๐ฆต
Letโs see what happens during the week ๐
We are expanding, and work on the new unit is starting soon.
With the new space we will be able to offer a โgym onlyโ membership option for those who donโt want or need the 1-2-1 personal training.
The gym will be well equipped for the average gym goer and will offer a quiet, more private workout space.

Todayโs run had a bit of everything! Lots of muddy hills over the north downs from Ashford to Folkestone. The poles actually helped a lot!
I was only an hour late for snow tubing ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
