Students’ Union Executive 2023/24 (1/2)
We are officially signing off as your Students’ Union President and Vice-President. We have spent four amazing years here at St. Mary’s😬, and now it’s time for us to face the ‘real’ world and come back to St. Mary’s as MSc students. 😋
We want to send a huge thank you to all students and members of staff for helping us have the best year in the SU this year! We want to thank you all for your energy and the amazing atmosphere that you have as St. Mary’s. Students, we loved your willingness to participate in our various sports teams, our class nights out, and our college events - like the College Musical, and our Mental Health Week.
We are passing the baton onto Dara and Niall, who will take up their roles as President and VP very soon. We wish them and their SU team the very best of luck and know that they will do a fantastic job!
We will miss St. Mary’s SU very much and will always hold the college very dearly in our hearts. One piece of advice for you all, whether you are staying to finish your degree, or graduating this year; take every opportunity, get involved and make the most of your experience.
We hope to see you again somewhere in the future to see how you’re getting on, but for now – tógaigí go bog é (take it easy)!

Niamh Brownlee is a past student of St Mary's, graduating with a BEd in Primary Education with English.
She has now published a book called 'Struggling to Breathe' which is the actual diary she kept as a psychiatric inpatient 5 years ago when she was ill with depression and an eating disorder.
Niamh had been struggling with her mental health throughout her time in St Mary's but didn't feel able to open up to anyone or ask for the help she needed.
All proceeds Niamh receives from the sales of the book are going to Aware NI and The Eating Disorders Association NI. She hopes her book will give an insight into mental illness and offer hope that recovery is possible and help and support is available.
Niamh will be returning to the college on 26th April to speak to students and staff about her experiences and explain how she got herself well.
If you would like to buy a book in the meantime, you can do so online from www.beyondthepalebooks.com
