Save the Bury St Edmunds Nearly Festival
Two people object to events at the Abbey. We want to keep this disability friendly venue open to all.
Great to see the press running with this success story…….,..
Festival-goers snap up 2025 tickets after another successful two-day event Music, food, drink and family fun were the hallmarks of a successful tribute act festival held at the weekend.
Day 2 and another sell out. Please let us know what you feel about the event so I can pass your positive vibes to the organisers. Even Micky and Minnie Mouse made an appearance for all the kids having fun here. Yes the key word here is FUN 🤩
So yesterday’s event was a sell out. Every generation was enjoying a fantastic family friendly festival, safe and accessible to all. And yet again we have one resident complaining which made it challenging for organisers and artists. This is one weekend in 52 where local people can enjoy themselves. The town was busy with attendees having lunch and others finishing their day in local pubs. This event is such an asset to the town and we must not allow such short sighted people to rule the majority. The Support Group are wishing the organisers another fantastic day.
Wow the The Bury St Edmunds Nearly Festival 2024 100s of people having a lovely time and one resident continues to complain, join Save the Bury st Edmunds Nearly Festival to keep events in the Abbey Gardens
Great to see the Nearly Festival sold out again. So grateful that the council supported our campaign to keep events in this very accessible and family friendly outdoor space.
Oooooooo exciting ………… love Elton.
Wow 4 years ago we were fighting to keep events in the Abbey Gardens……… In 2023 our two complainants were still complaining at the music levels! As the majority of local people are clearly in favour of events in our open spaces, we will continue to fight this negativity. Our town needs events that caters for all tastes, ages and abilities to keep the town alive and vibrant :-)
Its official........ We won....... The Nearly Festival is staying in the Abbey Gardens at a more suitable sound level for a music event.
Thankyou to every single person who attended, signed a petition, sent an email, liked or shared a post, the Support Group for their tireless determination and particularly my husband who had to tolerate 7 weeks of my ranting and campaigning. More news to follow.................
And roll on Nearly Festival 2020. Its going to be amazing. Nikki Mellor # #
Well done to everyone dancing in the heat lol……..
Tribute act festival takes over Abbey Gardens Abbey Gardens paid host to large crowds over the weekend, as the public gathered to enjoy a selection of tribute acts.
Great to see the Nearly Festival is setting up ready for a busy weekend. The Abbey Gardens is the only outside disability friendly venue in Bury with easy access for pedestrians and those using public transport. It brings 100s into town for lunch at local restaurants and fills pubs in the evening. We believe ALL events should remain in the Abbey Gardens, for the benefit of the majority rather than the handful of people who continue to moan and want to stop public events.
Have a great weekend everyone. Enjoy the show.
There are still a few tickets available……….,,,
Get your sun cream ready…….., Weather Forecast is looking great for the The BURY ST EDMUNDS Nearly Festival 2023
Another very successful Nearly Festival weekend which was sold out. Great to see families enjoying themselves in a safe venue. Just shows how important it is to keep events in the Abbey Gardens due to its accessibility to all. Fingers crossed the minority of objectors have realised that the majority want events to remain in the Abbey Gardens.
