Meet Alice 37, from Cambridge.

Before joining the community Alice was doing a lot of running but she had started to pick a few injuries, so decided to add some strength workouts into her training.

Since adding the healthy, toned and strong sessions to her fitness training, she is enjoying her runs a lot more now that she is over her injuries and feeling the healthiest and fittest she has ever felt.

Her consistency to coming at least twice a week and putting 100% effort into every session is a big part why she is smashing her runs and feeling her best.

One thing that has also helped Alice to stay consistent with her strength training is how well all the community gets on. She enjoys working with the like-minded women who are in the BCA community, it has been one of the reasons Alice has been consistent to becoming a healthier version of herself, plus the BCA trainers making sure Alice puts the work in helps as well.

Keep up the amazing work in the sessions, it has been great seeing how far you have come with your strength and fitness levels Alice!

Meet Emma 42, who is from Cambridge.

Emma is a member who just crushes it every single session.

Like a lot of the Cambridge women who make up the BCA community, Emma was looking for a community to help her become healthier, fitter and stronger.

Her consistency to coming every week and the effort she puts in every workout, we all have been super impressed with Emma's progression!!!

One thing that has helped Emma with her consistency to becoming a healthier version of herself is the fun and social environment created by the women who make up the BCA Fitness community. Getting healthy, toned and strong is easier when you are having fun with like-minded people like Emma and the rest of the BCA Champions.

Keep up the great work Emma!

This week some of our BCA champions celebrated some big milestones. I want to give them a massive shout out because their consistency have help them get stronger, fitter and healthier. It is one of the major factors why they are as healthy as they are. They all have been consistent.

So a massive shout out to Melissa, Steph and Alison who are celebrating reaching 250 sessions, 2 year of training with us and 100 sessions of training.

Here are 5 reasons why building consistency is key to your success:

1. Small Steps Lead to Big Results

Fitness is a marathon, not a sprint. Often, we think that major changes come from dramatic efforts, but in reality, it's the small, consistent actions taken over time that lead to significant results. Whether it’s a daily workout, choosing healthier meals, or staying hydrated, these small habits add up. Consistency turns these small steps into a routine, making it easier to achieve your long-term goals.

2. Building and Maintaining Momentum
Consistency creates momentum. Each time you stick to your workout schedule or follow your nutrition plan, you build a sense of accomplishment and reinforce your commitment. This momentum is crucial in helping you overcome challenges and keep moving forward, even on days when motivation might be low. The more consistent you are, the easier it becomes to maintain that momentum.

3. Establishing Healthy Habits
Consistency is the foundation of habit formation. When you consistently perform healthy behaviors, they become second nature. Over time, what once felt like a chore turns into a regular part of your daily routine. These healthy habits are the building blocks of lasting fitness success, helping you stay on track even when life gets busy or stressful.

At BCA Fitness, we believe that every step towards a healthier lifestyle is worth celebrating. That’s why we take great pride in recognising and honoring our members when they pass their big health milestones, like their 1,2 and even 3 year anniversaries. As well as session milestones like their 1st session, 50, 100, 250....

The reason why these milestones are so important to us and how they contribute to the overall success of our community.

1. Acknowledging Hard Work and Dedication
Achieving health milestones, whether it’s losing weight, lowering blood pressure, or completing a fitness challenge, requires a commitment, dedication, and perseverance. By celebrating these achievements, we acknowledge the effort our members put into their health journey.

2. Building a Supportive Community
One of the core values at BCA Fitness is creating a strong community. Celebrating milestones brings our members together, creating an environment of support and encouragement. When we celebrate one person’s success, it becomes a collective victory, inspiring others to push forward in their own fitness journeys. This sense of belonging and shared purpose is what makes our community so special.

3. Reinforcing Positive Behaviour
Positive reinforcement is a powerful motivator. By celebrating health milestones, we reinforce the positive behaviours and habits that lead to these successes. Whether it’s sticking to a workout routine, making healthier food choices, or consistently showing up for sessions, recognising these behaviours encourages our members to maintain and build upon them their new healthy routines.

4. Inspiring Others on Their Journey
When members see others achieving their health milestones, it serves as a powerful source of inspiration. It shows that with determination and consistency, goals can be reached. These celebrations provide tangible proof that progress is possible, motivating others to stay committed to their health and fitness journey.

5. Personal and Collective Achievement
At BCA Fitness, we believe that every milestone, big or small, is a victory worth celebrating. These moments of recognition not only highlight individual achievement but also showcase the collective success of our community. Each milestone reached by a member adds to the overall strength and energy of BCA Fitness, making us all healthier together.

Still enjoying the Great British Summer?

Here are even more tips to ensure you stay well-hydrated.

1. Hydrate Before, During, and After Exercise
If you’re exercising, particularly in the heat, make sure to hydrate before, during, and after your workout. Drink water or an electrolyte-rich sports drink to replenish the fluids and minerals lost through sweat.

2. Avoid Excessive Alcohol and Caffeine
Alcohol and caffeine can be dehydrating, so try to limit your intake of these beverages. If you do consume them, make sure to drink extra water to compensate.

3. Use Hydration Packs
For those spending extended periods outdoors, especially in activities like hiking or cycling, using a hydration pack can be very convenient. These packs allow you to carry and sip water easily without having to stop.

4. Be Mindful of the Weather
On particularly hot days, your body will lose more fluids. Be extra vigilant about your hydration needs on these days. Wearing lightweight, breathable clothing can also help reduce the amount of sweat and fluid loss.

5. Watch for Signs of Dehydration
Stay alert to signs of dehydration, which include dry mouth, headache, dizziness, fatigue, and infrequent urination. If you experience these symptoms, increase your fluid intake immediately.

Why Hydration Matters
Staying hydrated is crucial for maintaining overall health. It helps regulate body temperature, keeps joints lubricated, prevents infections, delivers nutrients to cells, and keeps organs functioning properly. Good hydration also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood.

Thank you for taking the time to read these tips. If you have any questions or need further advice on hydration or even achieving your health and fitness goals please feel free to reach out by commenting with the word "WATER" below.

As the temperature rises now that our summer is here for the 2 weeks of the year, where we all moan that it is too hot.

It’s crucial to pay extra attention to staying hydrated. Proper hydration is essential for maintaining your health and energy levels, especially during warmer weather. Here are 5 tips to ensure you stay well-hydrated.

1. Drink Plenty of Water
The most straightforward way to stay hydrated is to drink plenty of water. Aim to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day which should help you to achieve 2-2.5 litres, and more if you are active or spending time outdoors. Carry a reusable water bottle with you to make it easy to sip throughout the day.

2. Infuse Your Water
If you find plain water boring, try infusing it with natural flavors. Adding slices of fruits like lemon, lime, berries, or cucumber can make water more enjoyable. Herbal teas and coconut water are also excellent alternatives for keeping hydrated.

3. Eat Hydrating Foods
Incorporate foods with high water content into your diet. Fruits like watermelon, oranges, strawberries, and cucumbers are not only delicious but also help keep you hydrated. Soups and salads are also good options for increasing your fluid intake.

4. Monitor Your P*e
A simple way to check if you’re hydrated is to monitor the color of your p*e. Pale yellow or clear urine generally indicates proper hydration, while dark yellow or amber-colored p*e suggests you need to drink more fluids.

5. Set Reminders
Sometimes, it’s easy to forget to drink water, especially when you’re busy. Set reminders on your phone, use a hydration app or even buy one off those bottles that has drinking times down the side to prompt you to drink water regularly throughout the day.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

I’m super excited to be supporting a local charity called In Sue's Name by doing a SKYDIVE 🪂 🪂 on the 9th June (should have been the 26th May, but the weather got the better of us).

I am looking to hit £500 in sponsorship to help to In Sue's Name support the fight against brain cancer.

If you can help, please click the link below to donate. I appreciate every and any amount you can give to this great cause.

👉 👉 https://www.totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/isndwayne # 👈 👈

Here is the reason why I am going to be jumping out a plane at 14/15000 feet.

In Sue’s Name was set up as a fundraising charity in memory of Sue Blasotta, who died in 2011 from brain tumours aged just 42, leaving two very young children.

Sue’s devastated father David resolved to cherish her memory by raising funds for research into brain cancer treatments and cures.

David was shocked to discover that despite this disease killing more children and under-40s than any other cancer, only 1% of the total government cancer research spend goes to brain cancers. Our charity launched in 2014 to raise awareness, funds and support for anyone suffering from the effects of brain tumours.

Our target is to raise £1 million by 2027 in order to provide crucial research funds to support the Blizard Institute in Whitechapel – the Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence at Queen Mary University of London.

But as well as raising funds for research into brain tumours, we are bringing together families who have lost loved ones from this cruel disease.

Ultimately, we want to create a legacy that will see a cure developed for brain cancers, enabling other families to avoid the heartbreak suffered by so many through this illness.

I have never done this before but with spending time with David and understanding I knew I had take the leap and do this for such a great cause, so on the 9th of June I will be jumping 🪂 🪂.

Thanks again for your support, whether that is through the donation link here 👇👇👇
https://www.totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/isndwayne #

in helping me hit my £500 mark or even just reading more about the charity.

Here are some of our evening lifters letting us know why they love being a BCA community member...

12/03/2024

As we age, maintaining muscle mass, bone density, and overall mobility becomes increasingly important.

Aim for a mix of cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and flexibility exercises to keep your body healthy, strong and resilient.

Incorporating activities like brisk cycling, swimming, resistance training, and yoga can help improve cardiovascular health, maintain muscle mass, and enhance flexibility.

Aim for at least 2 - 4 days a week of moderate-intensity resistance workouts and 90 - 120 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week.

There are some other factors that we need to consider with regards to leading a healthy lifestyle, but we will discuss them another time.

If you do need any help on building a healthy lifestyle then let's have a chat on how I can help you achieve your healthy lifestyle goals, all you need to do is reply with the word 'HEALTHY' and I will reach out.

With us being nearly in month 3 of 2024 this is when most people fall of the fitness band wagon. Part of the reason are they are confused and overwhelmed by what to do to see results.

Here are 5 tips to help if you overcome that feeling or tips to reaffirm that you are on the right path.

Instead of getting caught up in the latest trends or celebrity-endorsed diets, focus on the fundamental principles of nutrition and exercise. This includes consuming a balanced diet rich in whole foods with a variety of colours, portion control, staying hydrated, and engaging in regular physical activity and create some me time.

Consistency Over Perfection: Aim for consistency in your habits rather than striving for perfection. Remember that sustainable progress takes time, and small, manageable changes implemented consistently over the long term yield better results than drastic short-term measures.

Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how different foods and exercises make you feel. Your body often provides valuable feedback, tune in to energy levels, and mood changes to determine what works best for you.

Balance and Moderation: Avoid adopting an all-or-nothing mentality when it comes to diet and exercise. Instead, aim for balance and moderation, allowing yourself to enjoy occasional treats or rest days without feeling guilty. Strive for a sustainable healthy lifestyle.

Mindfulness and Stress Management: Practice mindfulness techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga or walks in nature to reduce stress and promote mental clarity.

If you do need any help on building a healthy lifestyle then let's have a chat on how I can help you achieve your healthy lifestyle goals, all you need to do is reply with the word 'HEALTHY' and I will reach out.

Happy 2024!

Can you believe we're 3 weeks in already?

I'm really unsure where all the time goes - I swear it gets faster each year the older I get.

Can I ask you a few questions...

Was 2023 a replica of 2022?

How many opportunities did you miss out on because of FEAR?

What will you do differently in 2024 to really enjoy being you and really take care of your health and fitness?

I know we are 3 weeks into January but before you know it Easter will be here, then Summer and not to long after that Christmas will be back around the corner.

So don't put off making the changes to your health and fitness.

The amount of emails and Facebook posts about black friday deals is ludicrous..!

In my mind as a small business owner of BCA Fitness in Cambridge, my product (The BCA Fitness Community) is my livelihood and allowing a Black Friday deal, I feel will devalue what we do here at BCA.

Let me explain...

What I like to do as a small business owner is not to compete with the big box gym's black friday offers...

and let the you make a decision on the value you place on building a healthier lifestyle rather than a quick fix or a cheap deal...

I will leave that to the big box gyms, let's be honest, a cheap gym membership is not going to help you build a healthy lifestyle.

If you have visited any in the area, you will know they are soulless and lifeless, they are just buildings with equipment in.

From my experience your long term success is never in these kind of environments, most members at gyms like this last 1-2 months of irregular visits before they never step back in there.

Now with the right community who will support you, make exercising fun and the right coaches to encourage and keep you accountable this is how you will be a healthy lifestyle.

Just my thoughts...

22/11/2023
