When muscles are tight, muscle fibres become stiff and rigid which limits movement. Due to excessive tone, the muscle remains in a shortened state causing imbalance in the body. Tight muscles can pull posture out of alignment and can constrict blood flow. The problem of muscles tightening up can be reduced with massage. Massage stimulates blood flow in the muscles, increasing the temperature. An increase in temperature and blood flow allows the muscles to relax.
Massage is used to treat tight muscles by decreasing tone and breaking down collagen fibres. Think of your body as one muscle, it is all connected.

This is your reminder for when you are sitting at your desk and have been experiencing any pain in your back, neck, hips or legs.
Sitting with a straight back and shoulders can help prevent common complaints, such as lower back pain and a stiff neck.
Many people spend most of their day sitting down, as they tend to sit when commuting, working in an office, and studying or relaxing at home.
Prolonged sitting can cause various adverse health effects, including the misalignment of the musculoskeletal system, balance issues, impaired digestion, and reduced flexibility.
A person can improve their posture and achieve a proper sitting position by:
1: Keeping the feet flat or resting them on the floor or a footrest
2: Avoiding crossing the knees or ankles
3: Maintaining a small gap between the back of the knees and the chair
4: Positioning the knees at the same height or slightly lower than the hips
5: Placing the ankles in front of the knees
6: Relaxing the shoulders
7: Keeping the forearms and knees parallel to the floor where possible
8: Holding the elbows at the sides, creating an L-shape in the arms
9: Sitting up straight and looking forward without straining the neck
10: Keeping the back against the chair or using a backrest or cushion if there are places where the back does not comfortably meet the chair, especially in the lower back region
11: Avoiding sitting for extended periods, ideally taking at least a 10-minute break for every hour of sitting
