South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue ~ Sam's Story
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are urging young people to think again before jumping into lakes and reservoirs.
Our advice for young people is:
• Never jump into open bodies of water – this can cause cold water shock and impact on your ability to swim
• Don’t be peer pressured into swimming where you aren’t comfortable, or if you can’t swim
• If you get into trouble, float to live – there is advice on this below
• If a friend gets into trouble, encourage them to float to live and call 999 immediately
We have today shared the heartbreaking true story of Sam Haycock, a 16-year-old boy who drowned after jumping into Ulley Reservoir in Rotherham in a new water safety campaign.

Currently, we have six chicks!! With maybe more to go. So, this morning we have learnt all about the lifecycle of a hen. We even got to watch a clip of a real chick hatching from an egg.
We are creating our very own time lapse to try and catch the chicks hatching, if we do we will make sure to share this. 🤞 🎥
💭 Ask at home, can you describe the life cycle of a hen? What do all eggs need for roughly 20 days?
🐣 🐥 🐛 🦋
We have a few very exciting additions in our reception classroom!
We have eggs and caterpillars! We are so excited to watch these each day and see the transformations they will make!
We are learning all about their life cycles and using some amazing vocabulary to describe what is happening.
