What an incredible Edinburgh Festival Fringe!!!

8 shows done and we have loved every minute of it! 😍

From the audience being dragged in to play waterhorses, to Jane's tasting notes leaving everyone both speechless and clapping away, to the emotional immersion into the combination of whisky and music, to the quiet joint reflection and remembering of the women in the alcohol industry who were once condemned for their knowledge and status.

This has been a year to remember! And it is all because of all of you who came to our shows ❤️

Meet the Whisky Witches: Christine Kammerer 🐉🎶🥃

Christine Kammerer Music is a singer, composer and freelance whisky ambassador, and a graduate from the OurWhisky Foundation Mentorship Programme.

Using her background in Musicology and as a Music Producer, this singer and composer activates cultural heritage through music in collaboration with museums in Scotland and Scandinavia, both solo and with her band Jotunger 🎶

In the whisky industry, Kammerer creates bespoke music for brands as part of a greater creative marketing strategy.

In June 2024 she releases "Echoes of North" an album which is a symphonic fusion of Nordic and Celtic folk tonalities.

For the past decade, Kammerer has performed at festivals, museums, castles and venues all over the world - including a performance for the Queen of Denmark.

For the past 2 years she has composed and written for Whisky & Witches, where part of her work is selecting the music which will fit the character of the whisky and the myth the best.

Meet the Whisky Witches: Jane Ross 🥃🐉🎶

Jane Ross has been in the whisky industry for over 14 years. Before the opened her own bar, she was the manager of The Black Cat Bar in Edinburgh.

She is now owner and CEO of The Mother Superior Bar , The Powder Room Bar, and is currently opening a third bar 🤘

With its more than 250 bottles of whisky 🥃 from all over the world, The Mother Superior has quickly become one of the go-to whisky bars in Leith, Edinburgh. The venue always brimming with great events from comedy and concerts, to weddings and the iconic Whisky & Witches show.

Summer Solstice FULL BAND version of Whisky & Witches at Distillery feat. Jotunger, McNeill and Fiona McNeill ! 🥃🎶🧙

Our special Summer Solstice event at Copenhagen Distillery was amazing!
Scripted and designed to fit their whiskies, and to tell the tales of the glorious, feminine forces at work at this time of year. But also, to illuminate the darker side. Sharing the stories of women who were accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake for embodying it.
Illuminating how their connection to alcohol put them in even greater danger of this. And connecting the dots between witch hunts in Denmark and in Scotland.

We spend the evening remembering. Celebrating the wise women, Nicneven, vølve, witch, spey women. Remembering their connection to nature and to the world of spirits.

Remembering how the church demonized brewers, aqua vitae women, and women in whisky, making their participation in the alcohol trade potentially life threatening.
Immersing our audience in the continuous ambivalent treatment of women connected to the essence of nature – be it in the form of the spirit in your glass, “the water of life”, or the spirits around us.

We want to thank Copenhagen Distillery so much for embarking on this adventure with us. And especially Risum-Urth who was our honorary witch of the evening, introducing us to the water of life in the beginning and finishing off with a glorious cocktail and a ritual of manifesting and letting go
