Duryard, St James & Pennsylvania Lib Dems
Community news from your local Lib Dem team. Promoted by Exeter Lib Dems at 35A Howell Rd, EX4 4LT.
Your local Lib Dem ward Cllrs welcome the decision to refuse co-living in Victoria Street
This development is not only inappropriate, the whole concept of 'co-living' is questionable. It's unaffordable and doesn't provide a long term home for residents. We're pushing the council for clearer polices on co-living in Exeter moving forward.

'Overbearing' Exeter co-living development refused It was deemed harmful to the area
Hoopern Valley Who we are
3 general waste + 1 recycling bags filled from our litter-pick round Well Street and St James' Road!
The Labour-run city council have removed bins in Well Street, Powderham Crescent, and Old Tiverton Road. They've also stopped street sweepers from regularly going round anywhere outside of the city centre.
Litter blights our streets, pollutes local ecosystems, and is worse than ever in Exeter.
We will also report back on this to the University community liaison team.
Thank you to the local residents who stopped by for engaging chats.
We may arrange more community litter-picks in the future, linking up with University community groups and Residents' Associations.
A busy day of Council work. This morning a BBC interview about the proposed move from the Civic Centre. Then out with the Police in the ward with fellow ward councillor Tammy Palmer followed by a Police briefing. Only a councillor training session to go at 5.30pm.
Please see update from D&C police

My request is:
the increasing energy from social media is calmed as it is not reflecting the reality on the ground.

That any suggestion of counter protests is discouraged as it adds to the complexity of policing any potential protest.

Progressive Group: continuing to do politics differently in Exeter Our positive, collaborative group has continued to grow on Exeter City Council
Hi all
I just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone for their support over the last few months, we’ve worked hard to knock on doors, deliver leaflets and tackle issues raised by residents. Last night our hard work was rewarded with a fantastic victory which sees 3 hard working Lib Dem Cllrs in Duryard & St James. I’m looking forward to representing the ward and I’m getting stuck in today with the second objection to Victoria Steet!
Congratulations to our newest Cllr Tammy Palmer!
A real driven campaign, we know you're already being a fantastic representative for Duryard & St James' communities.

Another just day delivering our eve of polls leaflet and canvassing this evening
A fabulous two days despite the gloomy weather and some brilliant conversations with residents from across the ward
A great evening for some delivery after our envelope stuffing session 🌞
No time off for the footie for us, we’ve been out and about across the ward all day chatting to residents, lots of positive chats and real support for us because people know we work hard for them.
Another fantastic evening out talking to residents last night. With less than a week to go until polling day we will be out and about across the ward. The reception we have had has been incredibly positive but we should never be complacent and we will be working hard until 10pm next Thursday!
I know many of you are already involved and a huge thanks for all your hard work so far!
If you’d like help out There are lots of ways you can help the campaign

Fantastic evening out last night chatting to residents across St James. Lots of really great feedback about our literature and how informative it is and some lovely feedback about our hardworking current Lib Dem Cllrs.
Congratulations to Cllr. Kevin Mitchell who will be serving as Lord Mayor again this year. We know he puts his heart into the role and will continue to do his best to serve the city.
Yesterday evening I was officially appointed Lord Mayor Elect for the 2024/25 Municipal year. Its a great honour to be nominated for a second term so thank you to my fellow Councillors for your trust and support.
Also thank you to my current Deputy Lord Mayor, Tess Read for her support this year and congratulations to Cllr. Paul Knott for being appointed as Deputy Lord Mayor Elect for the year ahead.
Remember I am still available to assist with any casework issues within the ward, along with my ward colleagues, so continue to get in touch. But obviously like this year I will be making no party political statements.
Thank you for your continued support.
Semper Fidelis everyone!
