Growing our own flowers and sourcing the freshest UK blooms to make stunning arrangements
Seasonal British cottage flowers…sneak peek of some of the flowers that went into a bride’s bouquet this weekend, plus the sun came out!
Been weeding my own veg patch today as it had got out of hand with this wet weather. I had some help moving some compost earlier this week so I could plant up sweetcorn but more importantly some fun coloured pumpkins for later on in the season (black, pink, grey/blue and Turks turbans)
Once the sun comes out there’s so much to get on with sometimes you just don’t know where to start but start and jobs get ticked off the list!
When you have a tidy and sort ready for the next round of seed sowing and potting on
My daughter and I spent a lovely relaxing morning learning about Ikebana. It’s so interesting and definitely makes you think about the flowers and the support. I love seeing how everyone makes arrangements that are uniquely theirs.
Busy day…2 beds cleared, dug and plants put in 1 bed, and then I got 5 tonnes of compost delivered…black gold!
Looking forward to asters, zinnias, verbascum, basil and I’ll be planting lots of other bits over the coming days
When you are escaping the heat of the midday sun but still need to be working…
How gorgeous are these little bottles…finally managed to grow Icelandic poppies and am totally in love with them!
It’s Friyay so time for Friday flowers!
My flower stand is out with beautiful scented bunches of homegrown flowers.
After yesterday’s horrid weather and all this rain I think we all deserve a treat. So pop down to the flower stall to get your beautiful summery bunch. Don’t forget Dads like flowers too!

Fresh flower bunches at Combe Farm Shop this morning, why not treat yourself with some this weekend, bring a little sunshine indoors
When you’ve been to watch do a demo on pot pourri and confetti and get inspired to start drying all the rose petals in the garden…
I try to spend my weekends doing the garden rather than the cutting garden (doesn’t always happen) so yesterday was a busy day…after he rotated the compost bays he rotorvated a border which has been planned for a while now. The hydrangeas that had been enjoying a temporary raised bed are now in as are the lilies, fingers crossed they will like the new border and give us a little privacy when enjoying the pool.
Lots of pots were planted, scented palagoniums, patio runner beans and tomatoes as well as dahlias, cannas and fushias. And after I weeded all the garden beds we also fixed the archway so that the climbing rose and clematis had something to climb. The door will eventually be fixed so that I have a secret garden 🤫
I had a lovely morning this week joining helping create wedding meadow boxes with some of my flowers
After planting amazing looking sweet peas with fab rootballs some of my plants seemed to suffer and die…these things happen. So I’m really excited by the few that survived and of course I get to enjoy the first flowers. Not only do they look gorgeous but their scent is knock out!
Treating myself to a raspberry mojito and chill by the pool after planting over 200 dahlias in the dahlia garden!
Still plenty to go in the actual garden beds and pots as well as lots of cuttings to pot up but for now it’s time to enjoy some sunshine ☀️
So exciting…arrived Saturday at midday, sown Sunday at 10:30am, checked regularly (iykyk) and a few baby seedlings up already at 9:30pm Monday!!! Thank you and .proust

I didn’t grow many tulips this year but I’m absolutely loving these Pep Talk tulips with their variegated colouring.
They also have a green tinge to the petals making them great for perennial tulips, just plant them really deep so the bulb doesn’t spend energy making bulblets.
