We are a dynamic community group located in Folkestone's Creative Quarter that facilitates workshops
We aim to provide a place where people can enjoy being together, learning and sharing skills and living life to the fullest. The centre offers a cafe, a quiet room, two holistic therapy rooms, a ceramics room, creative studio spaces, an IT suite and space to exhibit work.
We had a lovely time at Farthingloe Farm enjoying the countryside and meeting this lovely Donkey😍

At Touchbase we believe strongly in the benefits of getting outside, to be active, and for wellbeing. We already run regular walks for our members- but we want to develop this part of our service, providing more activities and a more dynamic program of places to visit that are planned around accessibility.
Additional funding for this project will help us train staff to run 'forest therapy' groups and will help us purchase equipment.

This is something we, as an organisation, need to speak on. We cannot allow this to happen. For Kent County Council to change how financial assessment works at a time when 27% of disabled adults are already living in poverty is an injustice. We know of individuals who have had to choose between attending day sessions or having carers visit them at home or have had to reduce the hours of care they received. This policy change will lead to even more mental health conditions within the disabled community and within their support networks. This will not save the Council money, it will push the spend to a different area. Day services, such as Touchbase, are vital and a lifeline for many individuals yet many are going to have to make very difficult decisions, should these change happen. As the article states, many individuals are at risk of losing up to £40 per week! That is a massive amount and will impact the quality of life for so many. We have made our feelings known and we urge you, our friends and supporters, to do the same.
Call to fight changes to disability benefit payment A demonstration is being arranged to counter changes described as a “tax on the disabled”.
