Soda cans and bottle caps โ Design that really pops! I know, I hate that title as well. Iโm going to blame it on being momentarily possessed by some Buzzfeed intern. Iโve never tried this, but it looks like it would give your teeth diabetes and I am here for it. Today weโre looking at soda cans and bottle caps, predominantly from the US between ...
Had the absolute pleasure of getting to design the album launch poster for my favourite band (that I'm not in) The Kidney Flowers.
If you are looking for a poster for your band, event or even just a one-off for your wall, hit me up. I'd love to make it for you.
Also, come to the gig, I'll be there and accepting pints from anyone and everyone.

Grindhouse Posters Luckily she didn't lose her aiming eye. As Iโve mentioned before, poster design is one of my favourite things in the world. It goes hand-in hand with two lifelong obsessions of mine; music and cult movies. Since I was a child my rooms have been adorned with posters of bands and cheap movies where ...
Salve ships - Lucille Clifton
This was a test riso print for a bigger typography project that sadly changed direction before it was finished. The project was to take an essay by Mike Monteiro ( ) called "My People Were In Shipping" and to bring it to an audience of first time voters.
The essay was compiled as a newspaper with a few inserts to support the content of the essay. The essay talks about Monteiro's Portuguese ancestry and how he processed learning about Portugal's slave trade past, the shame that came with that knowledge and how acknowledging & embracing our shame can help us to be more respectful of other cultures.
The insert features a beautiful but harrowing poem by Lucille Clifton, riso printed over an image from a diagram of a Brooks slave ship in 1801, giving a horrifying look into just how inhumanely people were treated. On the reverse I included some of Lucille's own words introducing her poem at a live reading.

Blank VHS Cover Design Remember These? There was a time where every household in the world had a stack of blank VHS tapes lying around. As a kid they were like gold dust. You could trap the gems from Saturday morning TV for repeated re-watching, which was a godsend in a household where you could only get channels 1-4 (I g...
Not a lot of folk seem to know, but I also have a website.
I'm updating my portfolio on it just now, but if you were looking for an excuse to visit it, I also write wee blog posts about design things I like. They come out every Monday and Friday.
Here's one I wrote about some of my favourite matchbooks, because who doesn't have a favourite matchbook, right?
Matchbook design is as awesome as it is weird What? At the risk of exposing the staggering depths of how much of a nerd I can be... I have a collection of close to 600 matchbooks and matchboxes from around the world. Everything from run-of-the-mill daily use matches to matchbooks given to patrons of mid-century strip clubs and a vast spectrum o...
Really excited to finally be able to share this one.
I recently took on the task of designing the album art for the new album "Living In A Cult" by my own band, The Bucky Rage.
With it I made a limited run of 10 ""Cult of Rage" starter packs and designed everything from the box down to the 24 page fanzine, fanclub membership cards, an A3 poster, a deck of 15 trading cards and a pack of 4 postcards.
Everything is styled around 70s teen annuals like Jackie and Smash Hits and let me lean into showing off my print, packaging, editorial, advertising and poster design, typography, photo editing & manipulation, illustration and branding chops.
So aye, here it is, The Cult of Rage Starter Pack :)
P.S Before anyone asks, there are none of these left so I can't sell you one. Sorry xx

Made a wee poster for the lovely Kidney Flowers upcoming tour. Go and see them! Immediately! (Or on one of the announced tour dates) ๐๐
"Little Heart"
I've not been able to sit down and lose myself in a drawing for what feels like forever. Bourdain on the telly and my nose in a sketchbook/procreate. It's nice.
Somehow, after the most insane year I have ever experienced and in the face of more adversity than I thought possible to handle, I made it to the Honours year Degree show!
I actually finished. Good grief.
It's so rewarding to see my work finally up and displayed next to the fabulous work of the guys in my year. If you're in Glasgow and have time to go check it out, it's at the Wasps studio at 77 Hanson Street and will be there until 4pm Tuesday (tomorrow). There is some phenomenal work up there from not only ourselves, but also some of our Illustration, Fashion and Textile students.
Couple more bits to hand in and ya boy's got an honours degree!
Designing with ADHD occasionally requires you to give in and let your wee brain be distracted.
And on some of those occasions, your aimless clicking around in Photoshop makes something pretty (although to be fair, it's usually something stupid or sh*te).
Another awesome evening at with
Typeset and printed this series of texts my wonderful dafty of a wife sent me at 1am when she was too drunk to get off the bathroom floor.
Saw a bunch of posters by local artists along the side of a construction site in Glasgow today. This poster by made me stop for a while though.
They make awesome cross stitch and managed to cross stitch the whole poster with rope. Love to see it.
Not made any HipHop Trading cards in a while, so here's the legend himself, DJ Premier.

Hip Hop trading card #3 with RTJ!

Give them a shout if you want a mobile ice cream/hot dogs/pick n mix van for your event or special occasion. Super lovely people and an awesome setup!
One of the best bits about being in a band is getting to make your own posters
I fought getting an ipad and procreate for so long but goddamn if having a compact little photoshop with you everywhere you go isn't handy as hell
Fu**in hype to catch RTJ on Jubilee weekend. What better way to celebrate the monarchy.
Never forget, they're not celebrities, they're not your friends, they are not a tourist attraction. They are your oppressors.
