The Prancing Stag
Welcome to The Prancing Stag, family run restaurant in Jordanhill, Glasgow
We've recently been using our hand-dived Loch Fyne scallops in a new way, and it's been going down a treat. Served as a starter on our latest à la carte menu, we serve these bad boys with a freshly fried cauliflower bhaji and a squid ink cracker, pulled together with a very special curry oil.
We love this one! Will you be trying this one next week?
This week on 'What do our team love'? - it's time for cocktails! We asked our team to give us their favourite mix of the moment to share with you.
Rory (Owner): Peach Margarita
Neil (Head Chef): Morgan Mule (or something with whisky!)
Danny (Sous Chef): A Prancing Stag Negroni
Ace 🐶 (Chief Barketing Officer): Fresh tap aqua, ice, in a bowl
Which of our team's suggestions are you taking on your next visit with us?
"
We've had a lot of questions about our Christmas menu, and we're not Scrooge's here so it's time for the full reveal! 🎄
Which dishes are you most looking forward to? We asked Chef Neil which dishes he would choose for his own three-course selection...
🍴 Starter: Mulled wine poached pear & Strathdon Blue salad
🍽 Main: Pan-fried breast of pheasant, confit leg & black pudding pudding bonbon, fondant potato, maple glazed carrots
🥄 Dessert: Our own Christmas pudding with brandy sauce
🍾 Drink: A glass (or bottle...) of Nero d'Avola from Italy.

Tue-Sun Lunch- 2 courses £28, 3 courses £35
Tue-Sun Dinner- 2 courses £32.50, 3 courses £40
Meet Danny, we love Danny 👨🍳
Our Sous Chef is a Suiss army knife in the kitchen, you'll struggle to find something he doesn't do to help The Prancing Stag family. Second in command to Neil, if you've been to visit us the past few months, you've likely sampled Danny's work.
We're lucky to have you with us!
A shout-out for a very exciting fish special we had on the menu last week.
Cod | Mussels | Saffron | Monkfish cheek | Salsa verde
We always tell our guests to take the time to look over our specials, because... well... they are special! Keep an eye on our stories for updates on upcoming specials and when you'll be able to enjoy them.
Talking about Christmas in August? We interrupt your summer holidays to give you an early Prancing Stag PSA for our plans for Christmas 2024.
On Tuesday - Sunday throughout December, we have created a bespoke menu that Chef Neil has been hard at work planning these past few weeks. We won't reveal all now (...you've got to let us build the suspense) but some of the dishes include...
-Slow-cooked daube of beef Bourguignon with truffle mash
-Mulled wine poached pear & Strathdon Blue salad with pickled walnuts
-Sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream
..and our very own extra special Christmas pudding with brandy sauce.

"...but how do we find you?" We think our striking model of a stag, as you head into the restaurant, is a good sign that you're in the right place.
We're an independent family-owned restaurant with a huge heart and desire to feed the wonderful people of Glasgow and beyond with proper good food and an affordable price.
Will we be seeing you this weekend?
Shout out to Rory, our wonderful restaurant owner. You may have seen him on your previous visits, but we thought you might want to know a bit of background about our main man.
His journey into the world of restaurants began aged 15, working across Glasgow and Aberdeenshire throughout his teenage years, and at university. After graduating, Rory played a key role in the Athletes Village for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth games, managing recreational services for athletes.
In 2019, his family ventured into the restaurant business, taking over a space that became... *pause for dramatic effect* The Prancing Stag!
Who said that you can't have a cocktail during the week? These rules don't apply at The Prancing Stag. Come down soon and try one from our carefully crafted list. Perhaps this Negroni with Bombay Sapphire, Martini Rosso, and Campari could hit the right spot for you?
All our current cocktails are listed on our website.
Tired of ordering a glass of wine or beer with your meal? We've got some fine cocktails to match our fine dining?
They're so good, that even our wonderful model Gemma couldn't wait to sip on it before letting us snap this pic 😋
Our cocktail pick of the week? Our Classic Champagne cocktail with Baron Albert Champagne, Mery Melrose VS cognac, bitters, and brown sugar.
Only the best for Chef Neil. How good do these chanterelle mushrooms look?
Featuring on multiple dishes on our Market Menu & à la carte menu, we don't skimp on quality. Our team had their day off on Monday and are ready to serve you the very best relaxed fine dining in the whole of Glasgow (we're that confident).
Our Market Menu has had a summer makeover, and we think she looks stunning ✨

Neil’s caught a fish! (Not really, but he was happy with this one!)
We’re proud of the seasonal and fresh seafood we get in to The Prancing Stag, just like this absolute corker of a sea trout from Ochil Foods.
Want to know our secret to our fish dishes? It’s our work with amazing suppliers like John Vallance seafood and Ochil Foods. Mix that with Neil’s skill and it’s a match made in heaven.
Haste ye back!
Crispy belly of Scotch Lamb, served with a heritage tomato salad, ricotta, basil & mint oil. This is one of Chef's favourite recent creations and a favourite on our à la carte menu.
Are you lost for dinner plans this evening? We'd like to help with that!

DISH OF THE WEEK: In-house smoked & maple cured short rib of Scotch beef, haggis stuffed onion, sweet potato & bone marrow croquette, with a sticky jus.
This one is just that extra bit special. We've had some fun in the kitchen perfecting the best way to smoke our beef, and we think we've mastered it. Ready for you on our latest à la carte menu.

A moment of appreciation for our bread. The bread course is often cast off as a forgotten extra during your meal, but we think differently. Our warm, freshly made cheese rolls are served with a cheddar infused olive oil and smooth butter.
Thanks for your time, during this important notice. Do you know the best way to test this out for yourself? A magical table booking button is calling you.

We only use the Fynest scallops in this neighbourhood.
A lot of thought (literal hours) goes into choosing where we source our ingredients, so when you sit down for a meal with us, you know you can be sure of a few things. The food is local, fresh and sustainably sourced. Our Loch Fyne scallops are a classic on our à la carte menu.
Our week is looking bright, we'd love to see you around these parts.

Thanks Sean's Supper - Glasgow Food Blog for beautifully capturing some of our favourite dishes! Chef Neil knows a thing or two about making tasty dishes, it's pretty hard not to make them look delicious.
We hope to see you again, Sean, when you're back in the neighbourhood. Looking for a spot of relaxed fine-dining? You know where to come.

THANK YOU to everyone who voted for us, we are still on cloud nine after winning Glasgow’s Hidden Gem at the 2024 Scotsman Food and Drink Scran Awards.
Being an independent family-owned restaurant, we were honoured to be mentioned amongst some great restaurants, and this award goes to show how hard our amazing team works to bring the very best neighbourhood fine dining to Jordanhill.
This award is dedicated to our team, we couldn't do it without you! Congratulations to all the other winners and finalists at the ceremony, including Fhior who were great company at our table on the evening. Don't worry, the award won't go to our head - we'll continue to serve you fresh, local produce at great prices.
Rory, and the team.
A shout-out to all the desserts out there, you may be most people's third course but to us, you're always first in our minds 🍰
Pictured above is our rhubarb tart, which was our signature spring dessert. We've moved onto a new season with this making way for dishes such as our Scottish strawberry pavlova, citrus tart and chocolate fondant.

We're ironing the suits and dresses, ready to head down the road on the 17th for the awards. We've come such a long way, and to be up for awards like this really puts all the hard work into perspective. Wish us luck! 💚
