https://instagram.com/cafegandolfi In fact there were no restaurants. That was about to change.
In 1979, Glasgow's Merchant City seemed an epoch away from the vibrant cosmopolitan place it now is. Elegant streets and stylish buildings constructed by the city's 18th and 19th century fathers were neglected, shabby and down-at-heel - not remotely the kind of area likely to attract restaurant-goers. When Iain Mackenzie, Cafe Gandolfi's founder, saw the empty offices of the city's old cheese mark

Love at first sight 💚
Mornings in the Café are some of our favourites, especially as the days get longer. Nothing beats coming in with the sun shining, coffee machine on and our first few customers through the doors - the regulars making a beeline for their preferred table without us having to look up from our setup tasks.
Regardless of how you’re feeling, rest assured that your day can only get better after a good meal and a warm welcome!
We serve breakfast from 8am Mon - Sat and 9am on Sundays.
We look forward to starting our days together! ☀️☕️

Keeping with the asparagus fandom, we’ve got a new addition to our menu.
Beautiful Wye Valley asparagus with a delicate miso aioli and tahini verde which is then generously dusted with a sesame crumb. Blending flavours from all over the world to reveal a dish that is, all at once, crunchy, smooth, and delightful.
Come and try for yourselves - bookings can be made from the link in our bio.
Come and have something really nice with us 🤝🏻😉
“If you want a good Guinness, go to MJ Heraghty’s pub on the Southside of Glasgow. You’ve got a few options there, but that’s the one I’ve been heading to recently for my Guinness. If you want something really nice to eat, go to Café Gandolfi. They do a take on Scottish food but with a twist.”
The eagerly awaited British Asparagus season is here and we’ve got a glorious special to kick it off!
Wye Valley Asparagus, crispy ham hough & black garlic served on top of a wild garlic hollandaise - dreamy!
Come and join us this weekend and enjoy this delicious special with us. Book a table through the link in our bio.

Another old favourite is back in the mix.
This wholesome and hearty Dahl is jam packed with chickpeas, spices and spinach. Topped with a dollop of crème fraîche and served with a flakey, buttery paratha. It’s the perfect bowl of comfort food.
You can also find this recipe in our Gandolfi cookbook. It’s the perfect dish to batch cook at home - simple and super tasty!
We are hiring! Come join the Gandolfi family!

What’s better than a tower of French toast lathered in maple syrup after a long lie? Not much, and that’s why we’re extending our breakfast menu on Sundays!
Last booking for breakfast will be 1215, this means our lunch menu will kick in from 1pm to allow the kitchen time to reset.

We're proud to announce that we are back in action! Draught is in and we're in the process of getting our drinks menu back in tip top shape.
Please do come in and enjoy a cold beer or a nice glass of fizz / wine pre or post meal - or just come and reintroduce yourselves to our lovely, intimate wee bar upstairs.

Gandolfi
Many of you might not know the origins of our institution and namesake but it can be found sitting proudly above table 1 as you enter the restaurant.
When Iain Mackenzie, Café Gandolfi’s founder, saw the empty offices of the city’s old cheese market he had the clear-eyed vision to open an original, rendering and stylish café at the very heart of Glasgow.
As a photographer he brought a sophisticated aesthetic both to the interior and to the food. And, of course, its name - Gandolfi - which was inspired by the company founded by Louis Gandolfi that made cameras which have been synonymous with fine photography for almost 140 years!

Gandolfi’s very own resident Mum!
Annmarie has worked in the cafe for almost 40 years and has cared and watched over all our past and present staff (and many of our wonderful customers)! Always bringing warmth and a smile to every service - this Sunday is Mother’s Day and we’d love to raise a glass and celebrate Annmarie and every other mother.
There’s still time to book a table over the weekend. The link is in our bio. Whether it’s brunch or lunch - let’s celebrate our beloved mums.
Let’s start the week with something sweet - and you can’t get much sweeter than our chocolate nemesis cake!
It’s rich, decadent and oh so chocolatey. Think more of a sliceable truffle, than an actual cake.
This flourless chocolate cake is served with a dollop of crème fraîche to cut through the sweetness.
Another twist on a Gandolfi Classic.
Black pudding with pickled mushrooms, this time served on a crunchy potato rosti.
Book a table through the link in our bio and come try it for yourselves.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the classics making a new come back to the menu.

Reintroducing our Italian sausage pasta!
You might remember it in meatball form but we’ve reimagined this dish with a ragù style sauce. Which is then topped with a generous dusting of fresh Parmesan.
Gloriously tasty and just the right amount of comfort for the beginning of the year.
