Mental health is an inside out process…change happens when we change the inside…
It’s a Mental Health Thing is all over the news! 🙌🙌. Huge thanks to the awesome help gave to it when we were putting it together and gave it last week at our launch event
If your secondary school wants to:
- change the way staff and pupils talk about mental health
- save HOURS and hours of development time
- stop teachers feeling nervous walking into PSE to talk about subjects they’ve never been trained in
- give the pupils exactly what they asked for (ask to see our pupil voice and we’ll pop it over)
- get access to 60+ lessons on mental health
- get access to 90+ activities, designed by mental health experts that are PICK UP & GO for any teacher
- stop duplicating work across departments, colleagues and schools
- have constant access to the most up to date information put into formats your pupils will be engaged and fascinated by
- access data on usage and feedback from the pupils of your school
- and so much more
If you want all that and more, send us a DM today and we’ll organise a discovery visit or call, give you full school access to our pilot platform and show you what’s possible.
This is, as one teacher already using it said, a “game changer for PSE”
The HeadStrong Team got together and n to pass a message to anyone that needs it today. We’re lucky that every day we get to prove these messages are true, to help people to live them, to help people realise them. Not everyone knows that this is possible though.
So from all of us at HeadStrong, please know that no mental health problem needs to be forever. That also doesn’t mean it’s disappearing tomorrow however. Many problems need work. Sometimes a lot of work. But you’re already putting a lot of work into feeling sh*te so maybe it’s time to put work into feeling better.
THANK YOU to all the PTs, DHTs and more that came from across Scotland today for the launch of HeadStrong’s Digital Platform for High Schools, It’s a Mental Health Thing.
Also a huge thank you to for taking some time out from the start of training to talk to us about mental health, how you recover from disappointment and how you prepare for success, and her inspiring journey from disinterested school girl to gold medals and running at the Olympics.
And finally a thank you to Fiona White and Lyn Harris from Renfrewshire who spent the day with us and spoken about the huge impact the resource has had in Renfrewshire.
We look forward to speaking to all the schools who have already snapped up the opportunity to talk about it’s a Mental Health Thing.
A great day and all the team hope the start of something incredible when it comes to mental health education in schools.
If your school wants to hear more, drop us a DM.
Have you have struggled to find the time, brain space and resources to prepare for PSHE? You’re given this huge task every year and you know there must be an easier way.
We all know that the whole profession is struggling and that’s why we are inviting you to an insightful, fascinating and resource rich CPD on the 9th October.
We have an amazing guest speaker in Scottish Olympian Jemma Reekie who will be speaking about mental health and what she’s learned about her mind through elite athletics.
We will also be launching our incredible PSHE resource, It’s a Mental Health Thing. This resource has been developed with teachers, Health & Wellbeing leads, pupils and mental health experts to give schools access to a full PSHE mental health programme that is second to none.
Everyone who attends will be given free access to a special It’s a Mental Health Thing pilot platform and have instant access to use some of these resources in school as well as a goody bag, light lunch and some superb ideas for going back to school.
You deserve a morning of top quality CPD/CLPL and all of us at HeadStrong can’t wait to meet you. Seats are already scarce and we can only fit 50 in the venue so please get back in touch asap if you can make it.
If this isn’t for you please tag any teachers you know.

Or maybe it’s 5 awesome life tips from MY favourite TV shows 😂😂
The earlier we start talking about mental health the better. Prevention is so much preferable to a cure. Yesterday we had over 130 primary school classes online speaking to them about a model created to understand Role Models. We spoke about insidious presences in our kid’s lives such as va**ng and a certain Mr Tate and the young people were all fantastic with their responses. If your class were on, please say hello in the comments and let us know what your class took away 🙂🙂🙏
WIN AN IN-PERSON* MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOP FOR YOUR PRIMARY CLASS

“☘️ Grief is like a Guitar ☘️
This is my husband’s guitar, it was one of a few guitars that his dad owned and played frequently for many years, during family parties & with his folk band, The Kells ☘️
The guitar was given to my hubby after his dad passed and sat in our hallway, resting against a wall or sometimes moved to a more ‘safe’ place, somewhere where it was there and at the same time not there ☘️
I wonder what this has represented over the years? The presence of his dad continues to play a massive part for all of my husband’s family. The guitar always being there & at the same time not being noticed, explains beautifully how we hold the ones we have lost in our mind and heart ☘️
Grief will never go, it may ease and have cycles to it and like the guitar, it sits with you when you notice it and then it waits and watches while you live your life around it. Something that is always there, and at times, never seen although felt deeply when you notice ☘️
Today I am noticing everything that represents that guitar, love, family, connection and most of all Papa-T ☘️
A big shout out to for bringing this cherished piece back to life 💕
☘️”
Had a great morning with the leadership teams of today at
We only had 2 hours and we still managed to discuss the importance of inside out leadership. Good leaders understand their minds and the minds of their teams (and their customers) and they carry positive impact simply by being true to their values, who they are and, most importantly, their mission.
Thanks to all the team who made me feel hugely welcome and kept with me as I revealed how T in The Park changed my life!

The HeadStrong Way
HeadStrong are committed and inspired to have positive conversations around mental health with everyone we come into contact with. We want to get away from all the scary, fire and brimstone style fear tactics used by many mental health providers and spread a message of hope, help and honesty.
We know that sometimes it feels crap, we know that sometimes bad things happen, we’re not going to ask you to think positive or just cheer up it might never happen. What we are going to do is help you realise you are not broken and help you become friends with yourself again.
This page is where we share the HeadStrong message. You will rarely find this page publishing old quotes by Einstein or anything like that. We prefer to be unique, new and different.
Sometimes we might swear. We don’t apologise but we do keep it to a minimum.
Please get in touch with us if you would like to come on one of our courses, meet us for a 1-2-1 or whatver it is that we can help you with. Geography is not an issue and virtual sessions mean that the team work with people all over the world although if you happen to be in Scotland we’ve probably got a HeadStrong Coach near you right now. Message us to find out.
We look forward to helping.
Until we speak...
