Now things like this make me smile!

💥💥💥 ANNOUNCEMENT 💥💥💥

As many of you know, I struggle greatly with my own mental health, having to constantly battle against my own anxiety and depression on a more regular basis than I let on.
I also know the support isn’t there for many and there is still a perceived stigma around speaking out when you’re struggling 😔

So, I had an idea… What if we could do a day of music dedicated to raising money for a Mental Health Charity?
To help raise both funds for this amazing cause and do our bit to raise awareness around Mental Health, ensuring no one struggles alone and the help is there for them? 🤔

So, I put the idea to Gary & Sandi of the Toft Monks White Lion and there was no question, they instantly said yes, let’s do it! 👍🏻

Next up, let’s get a post out there asking if any acts would dedicate some time to this… Within 12 hours, I had 10 acts and within 36 hours, I had over 20 and this has now become a full blown 2-day music festival. With all acts giving their time, all for free, all for the same cause! 🥹

So, without further ado, we CANNOT WAIT to bring you the Mind & Music Festival!!! 💥

There are lots of ways to enjoy and experience Reiki with me. In my spare time I love to create and hold safe and secure spaces for people to receive Reiki and set upon a healing session.

Today I held space for my regular group of ladies that gather at a friends house to each take it in turns to receive Reiki.

A day of Reiki healing for me is heavenly. So I’m always willing to accommodate and bring Reiki to you and your friends if needed.

As I sit and prepare for the day ahead I have some tips that may help you today.

Always try to remember:
1. Don’t waste your energy trying to predict how the day is going to go or what happened previously. We have no control here. The past has happened and can’t be changed the future Is just our imagination.

2. We can only effectively deal with what’s presented to us in the moment. As a struggle arises we deal with it. By stressing about a worry before it’s even happened we put ourselves through double the stress!

3. Nothing lasts forever. When a stress does arrive , it’s fine, deal with it as best as you can, it may feel horrible at the time but this too shall pass!

I’ll be gently reminding myself of these points as I take on another crazy, unpredictable shift at the vets. As a technophobe, a new computer system and a mountain of clients is certainly a challenge! Ha

Also remember to help those around you, no doubt there’s other people sharing your exact same stress. Share the burden and lift each other’s spirits. Honestly it does help!

We did it! We camped!

We smashed it, we absolutely loved it. Phew! Ha
The weather wasn’t the kindest but we made the best of what we could. We cut it short by a night as the field became boggy and ducks moved in! Ha. Thought it’s best to leave whilst spirits were still high and we didn’t have to call the coastguard to rescue us with more rain on the way!

Now I can safely say I’m a camper and look forward to many more camping trips with the family! Mission completed.

Moral of the story: always question the things your mind tells you, dig deep and find the real you!

The weather wasn’t as good as I’d hoped but they do say there’s no such thing as bad weather.

I knew that if I didn’t commit this morning I’d only be using the weather as an excuse and quite frankly that’s a cop out. It’s always very easy to find a reason not to do something.

I got a coffee from the old dairy to warm me up and just sat, taking it all in and reading my book. That was one hour I could quite easily have not bothered doing and spent doing something utterly mindless.

Whenever I have the time, I’ll share where I’m heading with a time and if people ever want to come join please feel free. I’m just creating that opportunity that allows people to come enjoy nature, relax, read a book, meditate, escape the house of the busy household (whatever you need) but in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Woah! 30,000 words completed on the theory of animal Reiki!

As tough as this is, I’m loving every minute and not a single word has been a struggle. This does however mean that I’m almost ready to start building my portfolio of animal reiki sessions to prove my understanding. This course is intense but In order to qualify at a level to work professionally alongside veterinary surgeons in practice and out and achieve post nominals for my efforts, it’s so worth it.

Have you ever read a book that rang so true to you, that you felt like it was written for you personally?

This book gets you exploring who you really are. We forget that when we go through tough times or trauma we start to think differently and start to adopt ways of thinking that aren’t really us! We start to accept that this is who we are now. This is so not true! You have to do a little digging but you can reclaim the life you had before and get back to living the real you.

For example, and many of you will be surprised to know that although I’m all for nature, mindfulness and simplicity, I CANT CAMP! I used to love camping as a child and through years of anxiety and over thinking I literally convinced myself I hate it. To the point where I miss out on family trips away because “Steph doesn’t camp!”

This got me thinking. I used to love it, there’s no reason for me to hate camping. It’s the epitome of what I stand for! The anxiety I have lived through has killed off my natural desire, it’s time to claim it back!

So, I’ve brought myself a tent and growing my camping gear slowly and me and Scarlett are off on a camping adventure (in kessingland 😂, baby steps!) in half term.

Healing journey’s take a long time and I feel like I’m forever reworking on myself. This book is highly recommended, even if it just helps you stand up for you and allows you to focus on what makes you happy!

Wish me luck, I’ll be documenting the trip so look forward to seeing how that goes! Ha

Todays Sunday slow down had a little added extra! Reiki, the perfect accomplishment to a morning of mindful relaxation.

Along this journey I continually grow and adapt. We just had a small group today so I thought I’d treat them to some beautiful reiki energy to run alongside their mindful meditation. It was the first time I have attempted reiki in a group and each of my ladies today had already received reiki from me in the past, so they were familiar with the sensations. It was a success! Yay. So I shall be looking to sit down and reflect and adjust to see how I can incorporate this into future sessions.

I love to create opportunities for people, a chance to give something new a try, a piece of time and space for themselves. It’s never my job to push or convince people to come along, that ball is firmly in your hands. So for as long as people take the opportunities I offer the longer I shall continue and along the way we could create something really special.

After my “people” reiki session this morning I thought I’d used the energy of the room to practice some more of my “animal” reiki techniques for my up coming certification.

My expectations with our animals friends is never high, you just have to go with the flow. The honesty and innocence is what I love. However, I didn’t expect mr Leonard to take it upon himself to literally lie on the reiki bed!

I think the energy of the room was all he wanted.

I am now working my way through the practitioner level training on the course and getting ready to set up for my mammoth portfolio of animal reiki cases. Im going to need a lot of cases to present as my evidence of competency so I will soon be reaching out to my revised list of animals looking to to be part of this amazing journey of cases!

I love how diverse my life is! Ha

**ps I am now washing the sheets incase anyone was getting tetchy about the dog hair! Ha. This was a one off! 😂**

I am so super grateful to have such amazing friends and family that support me and allow me to grow my reiki experience so that one day, I might be able to take this to a professional level. The more experience I gain the better my chances of success. I only want to help people and show them there are other alternatives.

On a regular basis I’m invited to a dear friends house to share reiki with her friends and family. It’s become our thing and it’s so needed by us all. Everyone looks forward to a reiki session, time to relax, let go and let the healing reiki energy do it’s thing, leaving us all rebalanced, chilled, refreshed and our minds our clearer.

Have you ever tried visiting a familiar place but from a different perspective?

Scarlett loves a train ride so we took Leonard with use to visit Beccles. We go there all the time, it’s where most of the family lives. But coming in on the train and doing a different routine to the normal visit felt like we were seeing a whole new place!

It’s amazing how different things can feel just from a change in perspective. The place is still the same, the experience is not. A concept that can be adapted in all parts of our lives.

Whether you choose to see something/somewhere from a postive or a negative view point Is your choice. The thing or place remains the same. You are the one that has the power to shift that perception.

Today I have been practicing Animal reiki body scanning on my delightful little fur family.

A body scan allows you to scan the aura of the animal before a session to pick up subtle energy fluctuations that indicate areas that may need healing.

Another beautiful Sunday morning slow down session completed.

What a lovely group we had. We laughed, we shared, we released some much needed emotion. We learnt how to understand the power of thought, and how to overcome the anxious mind. We learnt to breathe! (Properly!) We had the most relaxing and mind clearing mindfulness meditation. All in the perfect setting.

I love these little sessions, giving people the opportunity to take control of their own mental well-being, offering a calm and safe environment to do so and literally feeling the energy in the room shift as we all move from fight and flight mode to rest and digest.

Pure bliss and what Sundays were made for!

Today, try to make a mindful cuppa.

This exercise stops your mind going into autopilot and blindly making your regular hot drink without even thinking. Our brains are hot wired to making this without a second thought. During this time we absorb nothing! If anything we are worrying or other thinking the day ahead whilst our bodies go through the motions.

Try this, slow down the process and BE IN THE MOMENT.

☕️ really look at all your cups, which one are you choosing and why?

☕️ go fill the kettle. Listen to the water rushing in, hear the squeak of the tap as you shut off the water.

☕️ turn the kettle on, listen to the click as you switch it on. Stay a while and listen to the water start to gently boil.

☕️ go select your hot drink of choice. Tea? Coffee? Whatever you choose just take a moment to really watch how you take it out of the packet. Smell the aromas. Take your time.

☕️ when it’s ready pour your water, watching the steam and the sound as it fills the cup. Keep smelling that beautiful sound of your special drink brewing.

☕️ hear the spoon as it move around the cup and clinks on the edge.

☕️ take a nice deep breath, the deepest you have taken all day. Now take your special little brew and go and enjoy!

You have just been mindful! It’s all it takes. You have been in the moment living like you should. Absorbing your surrounds and finding little snippets of gratitude!

Now go and enjoy your drink and see if you can continue the mindful experience!

For you to be able to consider mindfulness I think we need to bust some myths and reveal some truths!

⭐️ mindfulness doesn’t have to take long. Choose small snippets in your day. Just 5 minutes can be so beneficial.

⭐️ anyone can be mindful, you don’t have to be spiritual, good at mediation or be on the path the enlightenment. Mindfulness is for all of us.

⭐️ mindfulness is awareness not mediation. It’s about becoming aware of what’s happening right now.

⭐️ mindfulness keeps you present. It’s stops the wandering mind. Being present brings peace and control.

⭐️mindfulness can slow down the passage of time. It stops you being in auto pilot and letting the day slip by without even realising it.

⭐️ you can be mindful anywhere! Doing anything!

⭐️ mindfulness encourages you to be absorbed in the here and now by using all your senses.

⭐️ sitting with sensations within your body can be so healing. This can lead to real mental control and the ability to control your thoughts and feelings and know that ultimately you are in complete control.

⭐️ mindfulness teaches you that you are not your thoughts!

I’ll share some tips throughout the week to help keep us all sane during the busy Easter holidays.

I have this brilliant idea and I would love to know your thoughts and any help you can offer on this .

It’s not a money making idea, it’s an offering of encouragement and opportunity.

I really want to see meditation/relaxation/mindfulness normalised in public spaces! Being connected to nature, the outdoors, fresh air etc are all ingredients for a healthy, happy mind. But I’m very well aware that the thought of sitting in a public space and meditating or sitting in reflection sends awkward shivers down our spines.

“What will people think”
“ why are they staring at me”
“ people will talk about me”

It so should not be this way! Half the people that judge others are actually only doing so as they can justify to themselves why they think it’s pointless ( when in fact these are the people so in desperate need of these opportunities)

When the weather improves (🤞🏼) I want to find nice peaceful locations to sit in nature and just be present in any way I feel appropriate. Whether that be reading, being mindful or just taking 5 mins to decompress.

I want others to join me, no monetary gains, I just want to hold the space for others to come along and benefit from what we have accessible to us all without the stigma attached to it and feeling awkward.

I won’t be teaching or guiding, I’ll literally be creating opportunities for people to get out and in nature with support and encouragement.
I’m going to be doing it on my own anyway so even if I help one person I’ll be happy!

People often ask if I get drained or tired after reiki sessions.

The opposite actually happens! Here’s the key:
⭐️ Reiki energy flows one way, through me into you. You use the universal life force energy not mine.
⭐️ I’m super grounded before a session meaning I don’t absorb any of your energy either.
⭐️ I also use specific crystals designed for energy absorption and intensifying.
⭐️I get a lovely dose of reiki energy too as it passes through me, so I often feel relaxed, calm and chilled, as much as the person I’m doing the session with. Bonus!

Most importantly, I only ever offer to share Reiki energy healing when I’m in tip top condition, I can’t help others if I haven’t helped myself first. This ensures you only ever have the best version of me.

I share my reiki within the community and with friends and family so thankfully I don’t have the pressure of filling up healing spaces to help make ends meet. I share because I can and for that I am very grateful.

As promised a run through of how I brain dump. I feels so good after.

Brain dumps are usually very personal and I don’t encourage people to share with others because it’s all relative to the person but for this purpose I’m happy to share the contents of my messy mind. (Pre holiday related)

So the first list is what’s in my mind the moment I start a brain dump. There’s no order to it, it’s written as I think it. No matter how silly or petty it seems just writing down.

I then leave it for a bit and then come back
to it a little later.

Now it’s time to put things into perspective! Almost imagine a friend has given you this list and you are helping them sort their problems. It’s always easier to help someone else than it is to help yourself for some reason.

Work out what you CAN control and what you CAN’T control. Luckily the list becomes a lot smaller when you realise the stuff you can’t control just needs scrubbing out. We have no power here.

Write a little solution next to each one and work out if it’s even really worth worrying about.

Then at the bottom write your ACTUAL to do list. It should be soooo much smaller!

REMEMBER: even the calmest people in the world have messy minds. Its human nature, we are natural thinkers, we just need to keep it in check and remind it who’s in charge!

I wanted to share a little something.

Over the last few days I have been:
😵‍💫 tired
😵‍💫 achey (I feel it in my joints!)
😵‍💫 headachey
😵‍💫 heart skippy
😵‍💫 missing meals
😵‍💫 overthinking

Sound familiar? This is stress and the result of too much stress hormone (cortisol) running through my body. Iv been stuck in fight and flight mode and I suddenly realised why I was feeling the way I did.

First things first, it’s totally ok to feel this way, it’s normal human behaviour. The power comes with becoming aware of the feelings and knowing it’s stress. We all get stressed, we can’t avoid it. But I’m here to share some tips on how to take your body from fight and flight to rest and digest!

1. Recognise and own it! Don’t wallow in it. Only you have the power to get yourself out of this mode.

2. Be kind to yourself, your not failing, your living.

3. Nothing lasts forever, this shall pass.

4. Brain dump all those thoughts and get them out of your head. Learn to prioritise your thoughts.

5. Give someone a call and vent if you have to.

6. Slow that breathing down. A simple in breath of 4, hold for 5 and breath out for 6 (x5) is enough to engage your rest and digest mode.

7. Slow down, take a moment. There’s no harm in this, it’s necessary!

8. Make yourself a drink and concentrate on the whole process. From selecting your cup, boiling the water, brewing, smelling the smells. Take it to a quiet spot and enjoy (this is your 5 mins)

9. Remember thoughts are just messages in your mind. They can’t predict the future neither can they bring back the past. They are messy because your stressed. Slow the breathing, the thoughts will fade.

10. You are not alone! We all suffer at the hands of anxiety. Know you have the power to shift that mindset whenever you chose.

Let’s explain this!

So this saying shows just how much inner power you really have already inside you.

If you say you can’t do something you can bet your bottom dollar you won’t! You set the intention that you can’t achieve and all your inner workings and mindset will fail to give you the drive and determination you need to get the job done.

Saying that you can and you will sets the most positive pathway in your mind. You will find the ways to achieve, seek opportunities and drive you need to succeed.

Your brain will always say yes:
“ I can’t do this” - yes you are right this will never happen let’s give up.
“1 can do this” - yes you are right this will happen, let’s get cracking!

Just try it! It’s made me look so differently at the way I see things.

Why is it, when I’m in or near water I get bombarded with messages and ideas! Ha (leave me be! Ha)

Iv been pondering this one for a little while and would love to know your thoughts. As you know I feel so drawn to helping people and sharing my knowledge and experiences.

I have spend many years learning and researching and getting to point where I can guide others. But here’s my pondering….. 🤔

How do I help as many people as I can without putting my own well-being in jeopardy? I’m a mum, I have a career and I love to heal. Im blessed with the ability to have so many tool at my fingertips, all of which I need to maintain my mental stability but so little time to do all three!

My idea:
⭐️ still dedicate reiki healing sessions (as they do me so much good to).
⭐️ aim for more group sessions to help more people in one sitting.
⭐️ take the knowledge I have and create weekly post on a different subject that may resonate and help people, to give people a sudden spark to look at life differently and kick start their own
Healing journey.
⭐️ I’ll always be here to guide you beautiful people.

The knowledge that I have is not mine to hold and only share in a session. it’s out there for everyone to learn themselves but I can help guide you in the right direction.

Man that was a mammoth brain overload during a bath! Ha

🤫 Iv been sitting on a little secret! 🤫

I have been given the most absolutely amazing opportunity and I’m super excited to share it with you all.

As many of you may know, I am a veterinary nurse and have been with the same practice The Veterinary Hospital & Surgery for 22 years and to have my passion for Reiki acknowledged and supported is unbelievable!

I have been given the opportunity to become a certified animal reiki healer with the view to potentially introducing it within my practice to our patients!

There is a lot of learning and assessments to achieve but I’m not scared of hard work, especially when it’s a huge passion of mine.

Huge thanks to Sara Woods our new head nurse for her amazing support and enthusiasm to help the nursing team evolve. I see a very bright future!
