Dear farm friends, we have some sad news to report.
At the weekend, we had eight of our most rare breed chickens including Silkies, Bantams and Ayam Cemani, stolen from Cluckingham Palace, our chicken house.
The fact that these chickens were stolen specifically shows that this was a planned theft, which would have involved a prepared vehicle with cages, vaulting over our padlocked gates, and entering the locked chicken house, scaring all of our farmyard animals in the process.
This hurts more than the monetary value of the chickens. It feels like a real invasion of our space, which is a place for the whole community, and our animals' home where they should be safe.
We of course have CCTV in the farmyard and we have reported this incident to the police. However, if anyone knows any information, or has been made aware of a new brood of rare chickens locally, please do let us know.
In order for us to replace some of the lost chickens, we would need to spend around £400. We will also be upgrading our security systems in the farmyard to prevent future thefts which will be expensive. If you would like to donate to the farm to help us cover those costs it would be much appreciated, you can do so here: https://www.ouseburnfarm.org.uk/donate
We hope that wherever our lovely chickens are, they are being looked after. 🐔
♥️
Thank you,
Katie - Farm Manager.
