Good morning everyone

Congratulations to everyone who entered the Southwest Championships at the beginning of the month and to everyone who took their coloured belt gradings the following week.

With those two big calendar events finished its time to start focusing on the Summer Demonstrations.

22nd June Manadon Vale primary school, Plymouth

6th July St Margaret's Academy Primary school, Torquay

20 July St Luke's Church summer fair, Newton Abbot

We might be invited to more although I don't like to do too many as they are a lot of extra work and time for the staff.

As you will all now be aware the Honicknowle youth centre is closing for 6 months from 1st June for a refurbishment. We didn't get much notice from them unfortunately (we were told last week!) but luckily after some stressful phoning round to find a replacement, Holy Family hall in Peverell has agreed to let us use their hall on Thursday nights. We run our Saturday morning classes from there and its a great hall and well run/maintained by the church.

The first Thursday night class at Holy family will be 6th June.

If you're not sure where it is google Maps 'Beacon Electrical', Beacon Park Road and its the white church opposite.

Gradings

The next grading (after tomorrow nights catch up (18th May 5:00pm) Will be in July

July 11th Honicknowle (being held at Holy family, Beacon park road)

July 12th Plympton

July 13th Peverell

July 14th Paignton, Torquay & Newton Abbot

July 15th Plymstock

The St Austell and Ivybridge gradings are to be confirmed.

Australia

We are now getting closer to the Australia trip in October and Team Southwest have been hard at work raising money to pay for the flights and accommodation.

There will be a raffle to help with the fund raising and make this amazing opportunity a reality for 7 of our children (and to lay the foundation for us to take more of our students in 2026)

The mission: to build a ‘egg Rocket’ to transport a raw egg (uncooked in It’s shell) from point A to point B (we are going to throw them across the car park 😂)

The eggs must not break and be able to be taken out of the egg rocket after landing.
