🍃 Here at Foodbank we recently applied for a grant from Action Together who invited local groups across Rochdale, Oldham and Tameside to apply for one of their Volunteers’ Celebration Fund grants to support an activity to say thank you to the fantastic contribution volunteers make.

😀 Imagine how surprised we were when we found out we had been successful!

Through this grant we wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to our amazing team of volunteers, and to recognise the importance of their contribution and commitment 💚

🧍🏾🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️Our lovely volunteers come from all walks of life and take the time to regularly volunteer at Foodbank and our warehouse.

They make a huge difference to local people in our community.

🍽️ Today we all enjoyed a gorgeous three course celebration meal at The Flying Horse, which was also kindly subsidised by the pub.

We all agreed the food was delicious and it was great to have everyone together under one roof!

🛒 We have now counted and verified the collection from last weeks’ Tesco Food Drive.
Huge thanks to all who kindly donated on the day, all the items weighed in at a bumper 266kgs!

🥫A big thank you also to the pupils and staff at Matthew Moss High School who had an end of year collection which weighed in at 82 kilos💚

🤗 Finally St. Mary's CE Primary School, dropped by with their donation of some of our most needed items which weighed in at 40.5kgs💚

These donations will go a long way in helping our clients, especially as the long school holidays are approaching.

👏👏 A big thank you to Az and the guys from EE Store in Rochdale who as a company are helping Foodbanks nationally.

As well as Az lending a hand to help us out at last weeks’ Tesco Food Drive, going forward the staff in the branch will also be collecting individually and from their families for us on a monthly basis!

🥫They dropped by yesterday with their first donation for us including many of our much needed items and toiletries, which weighed in at 30kgs.

👏👏 A massive thank you to all the staff across 7 sites at Minky who recently held a Summer Afternoon Tea Party and again collected donations for us.

🥫They dropped off all the items at our Newgate premises, which weighed in at a whopping 220.50 kilos worth of food, toiletries and gift items😀

💚 Thank you also for the generous donation of £212.47 from our friends at Minky, who have nominated us as their charity partner for 2024.

🚨Rochdale Foodbank need our help. In October, we donated over a hundred items to their wonderful service as part of our Harvest celebrations. To be ready for another busy Summer, they need essential foods and toiletries.

👏👏 Firstly a huge thank you to the Year 7 pupils at Wardle Academy who collected a bumper amount of food and toiletries for us.

The school dropped their donation off at Andrew Kelly & Associates, one of our Food Gift Box drop off points across Rochdale. What a lovely surprise!

👏👏Thank you also to Ebony, an employee at Lidl Littleborough who dropped off a personal donation of 80 tins of food weighing in at a total of 41 kilos. 💚

👏👏 A massive thank you to The Carpet and Flooring Depot Rochdale who stepped up when we reached out for help in fitting new flooring in three separate areas of Foodbank.

✏️ The guys came out to measure up, then returned this week to fit all our new flooring. They did a brilliant job and we are delighted with the result!

📈 Foodbank Stats for May are now in.

During the month of May we processed a total of 483 food parcels:-

320 - Singles / Couples

159 - Families

Sadly these numbers show for the first time half the food we handed out was to families💔

🍃 To give just a few examples of the quantities of food we hand out in an average month this is what we gave out in May:-

🥛 638 cartons milk

🥫 1117 tins soup

🥩 638 tins meat

🥫 1117 tins beans

🥔 638 tins potatoes

☕️ 483 tea/coffee

🥣 483 boxes cereal

I’m sure you will agree this amounts to a lot of food!

This is why we need your support more than ever, and appreciate all donations no matter how big or small.

🎉 News just in that our Tesco Winter Food Drive last week was a huge success, and we are delighted to announce that all your donations weighed in at a massive 1595 kilos, which is the equivalent of two and a half cows!🐄
