Springhill Hospice
Springhill Hospice
Only one day to go until our Three Reservoir Ramble! 🏔️
The ramble will start at 10.30am from the gardens of The Oxford and take you over the hills of Healey Stones across to Wardle, passing 3 reservoirs: Hamer Pasture, Brown House Wham and Watergrove reservoir. We will be on site from 9.30am for registration and to hand out walk numbers and t-shirts.
The total walk distance is around 12km (7.5 miles), and it is an off-road walk over the open countryside.
NOTE TO RAMBLERS:
Tomorrow, please try to bring a reusable container for water/hot drinks to take on the ramble with you to help us reduce our use of single-use plastic bottles wherever we can.
You can fill up before you leave at the Oxford base.
There are over 50 parking spaces at the Oxford, and additional spaces can be found at the nearby Christ Church Healey car park (Gandy lane off Whitworth Rd), which is happy for us to use their car park. Please respect local residents if using street parking.
We can’t wait to see you all tomorrow!
The amazing Albany Products, who are a Springhill Hospice business buddy, recently held a family fun day and charity football match and managed to raise an incredible £3,000 for the Hospice!
What an achievement - thank you, Albany Products, for your excellent support! 💚
Our Business Buddies provide so much support to the Hospice through their regular donations, lending a helping hand at our events, and their generous sponsorships.
To show our appreciation, every week we will shine a light on one of our Business Buddies and their contribution to the Hospice.
This week that light shines on Digital Telecom.
Digital Telecom is one of the UK’s most experienced digital telecoms providers. Digital Telecom have been a Business Buddy since 2017 and have raised money for the Hospice through their membership and Corporate Fundraising.
If, like Digital Telecom, you would like to support your local Hospice and fulfil your corporate and social responsibility, please visit https://buff.ly/3xncWJL or contact the fundraising team at 01706 641790.

2023 winner Wesley Dowd is a great example of someone who has made a positive impact through his hard work.
Since 2017, Wesley Dowd has raised significant amounts of money for Moorland Children’s home through his own fundraising events. These include, amongst other things, walking the Dales Way, the Cumbria Way and working with Parents Against Grooming on fundraising fun days & bike rides.
Wesley also does other charitable work for children, independent of the work he does for Moorland Children’s Home. This includes raising funds to send children with cancer or disabilities on holidays, Christmas Present collections for needy children, and providing furniture, clothes and food for local families in need.
Wes truly has a heart of gold when it comes to disadvantaged children and would give his last penny to help them.

GARDEN HIGHLIGHT 🌿
Wellbeing, dementia-friendly and horticultural therapy gardens.
Surrounded by nature and being in a garden has been proven to improve the health and wellbeing of people. Here at the Hospice we also use the garden for formal therapeutic practices, such as our Ecotherapy sessions with bereaved individuals to provide holistic support for patients and families through difficult periods of illness.
Previous successful horticultural therapies involved carrying out table-top gardening and nature-based activities like sensory memory boxes, Kokedama (Japanese art of Moss Balls), creating mini-memory gardens and Autumn leaf pictures.
A planned join initiative between the psychological and supportive care and gardening teams have already created the dementia-friendly garden and going forward we wish to replace the old kitchen garden with a wellbeing garden with an outdoor classroom, meeting structure, raised beds and green gym. This is to improve accessibility making it safe and engaging for all.
As well as being an amazing day out with your friends, our Christmas Cracker Ladies Lunch is also a chance to wear your best festive outfits for an afternoon of fun, glamour and fundraising.
We will be handing out our Best-dressed award again, so start planning your outfits, and may the best-dressed win!
Tickets are limited, and we anticipate an early sell-out, so book your table early!
