We have been very lucky that Emeritus Professor Norbert Schmitt (University of Nottingham) has agreed to deliver a guest talk at Sheffield.
This talk has specifically been organised for UG and PG students interested in the area of TESOL, and particularly vocabulary in TESOL!
The talk will take place on Friday 19th May at 11:30 am in The Diamond, Workroom 3. It will last for about 1.5 hours, including the Q&A and discussion session.

Want to know more about what it's like to study English Literature at degree level? "Race, Identity and Migration in Contemporary British Theatre" is a taster session we're hosting this week that will do exactly that!
This session will explore how contemporary British theatre texts address issues of race, identity, power, ethics and ecology, and what theatre can do to reflect contemporary political and social realities.
There will also be the opportunity to hear from current staff and students about life at Sheffield and university in general.

English Literature taster session This session will give you an insight into studying English Literature at university.
The last couple of years have been strange and difficult for almost everyone, but women have been disproportionately hit with the more negative impacts of the pandemic, from increased caring duties to frontline work in key industries, to dangerous or vulnerable personal situations. The Women in Lockdown project, organised by a group of PhD students here at the School of English, aims to catalogue an audiovisual and written record of the experience of women during those challenging times.

You'll learn the methods and practice from professional executive coaches, combined with in-person CPD workshops, the content of which will be chosen by you. We're combining it with a digital manual so it's easy to reflect on in relation to mySkills too!
