Venetia Nutrition
As a nutritionist I can help with many issues such as skin, digestion, aches and pains and more
I love this. So often in this fast paced world we become overwhelmed with what we think needs to be done. It causes so much stress on the body and it is really not necessary. Just starting with a little bit means the job will eventually get done. Be kind to yourself.
Still one of my favourites...
this is an easy thing to do to help congestion. Give it a go
Working with the skull
People of all ages can suffer with sinus problems and blocked ears. A good way to relieve this congestion is to grasp either side of the skull, fingertips meeting down the centre ridge (the saggital suture), then firmly pull that ridge apart with your fingertips, starting at one end of the skull and working your way along.
This releases built up tension in the skull and helps the flow through the sinus passages. The movement also helps alleviate pressure in the ears, allows the small intestine to relax, and improves breathing.
This simple exercise can help with feeling less blocked up on all these levels. Why not have a go on yourself, or offer to work on your friends and family? And it can be just as effective for children as well as adults.
I do love this. Nature is so healing. I recently got a puppy and walking him everyday is balm to my soul.
A little reminder for ALL of us!!! ๐๐
Breathing is is underrated. Just a few minutes of deep breathing can make a huge difference to our health.
๐ฆWATER๐ฆ
Water has so many benefits for our health and wellbeing.
Here are some reasons for ensuring your body has enough water on a daily basis.
Water helps to:
โ
transport nutrients to cells,
โ
remove waste,
โ
helps relieve constipation,
โ
controls body temperature,
โ
helps maintain a healthy rate of metabolism,
โ
support brain function and energy levels
Dehydration stresses the body and when the body is stressed, it becomes dehydrated - a vicious circle spoken about by Barbara Wren in her book A Return to the Light (a good read).
In Chinese medicine, the water element is linked to the Bladder and Kidney meridians. The emotions linked to both the bladder and kidney meridians are fear, worry, anxiety.
Water strengthens these meridians and helps the energy flow efficiently through them. In turn, the emotions are supported as well.
Itโs generally recommended that we drink between 2-3 litres of pure water per day depending on your physical activity level, build etc.
โAre you getting enough? How can you increase your water intake to better support your health & wellbeing?
A good tip is to start using a water bottle with the times of day written on it. These bottles are a good visual aid and reminder to keep DRINKING! ๐ฆ
We are all part of this world so it not surprising that being in nature is so important for our health. Go for a walk, hug a tree, maybe even a swim in the sea.
Cauliflower rice ready to go in the oven. Baked with onion, garlic, cumin, turmeric, salt, pepper and some olive oil. I find it keeps much dryer being baked. Great to have in the fridge ready to go with any meal.
My friends and family will know I love my herbs and often pick a selection for my tea. Rosemary is such a lovely herb for cooking, mixed into a tea or in an oil burner. Know for remembrance no wonder it helps the brain.
Love this photo. How amazing is the universe and how small are we. Makes me think there is so much to learn.
In society today we always feel so pressurised to perform. I saw this and think it is so helpful. We do not have to be perfect. If we do a little bit it will all add up to a lot.
This is so true
We all know what to do to maintain our physical fitness, but we often donโt think about our mental fitness.

This could be a useful recipe with Christmas gatherings coming up. I have used cream cheese in the photo but next time I am going to try filling it with a lentil dahl. Hope you enjoy it.
Carrot Roulade
300g grated carrot
30g butter
1 heaped teaspoon ground cumin
4 eggs
150g cream cheese
Spring onion
Salt and pepper
Melt the butter in a frying pan. Add the cumin, salt and pepper and stir then add the carrot. Cook stirring frequently until the carrot is soft. Allow to cool.
Separate the eggs. Stir the yolks into the carrot. Whisk the whites until stiff. Fold the whites into the carrot. Pour into a lined Swiss roll tin. Bake in an oven at 200ยฐC for 10-15 minutes until just firm and lightly browned.
Turned out onto a piece of baking parchment and cool.
Spread with cream cheese and sprinkle with finely chopped spring onions or chives and black pepper. Roll up length wise and chill.
Slice to serve.
You could use anything for a filling. A lentil dahl might be a nice idea.
You can also cut the roulade length wise before filling to make two smaller ones that when sliced make great canapes with drinks.

The main difference between squash and pumpkin is texture and water content. Squash have a denser and more creamy flesh and contain less water than pumpkins, which have a lighter, more stringy texture.
-
๐ฆ Pumpkins are more hydrating but squash has a richer flavour and often work better in recipes as they have a smoother texture.
-
๐ฅ Both are a brilliant source of beta carotene, the red-orange pigment found in fruits and vegetables which the body converts into vitamin A. Vitamin A supports your bodyโs natural defence against illness and infection. Itโs also an important vitamin for eye health. It helps slow the progression of macular degeneration and reduces the chances of vision loss.
-
๐ Squash and pumpkins are also rich in antioxidants which play an important role in reducing oxidative stress. In turn, this may help with cancer prevention. Squash and pumpkins are also high in fibre, which aids in digestion.

NATURE ๐๐พ
Nature is the antidote to many of the stresses of the modern world.
Nature is expansive. It helps us reflect. It gives us perspective. It broadens our view on the world. No one ever felt worse after getting a dose of nature.
Being in nature has been shown to reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol, and improve the functioning of our immune system. (Have you heard my latest podcast yet where we cover the powerful effect that nature has on our immune system? If not, click the link in my bio above ๐๐พ๐๐พ)
As a family, we try our best to get outside in nature as much as we can, especially at weekend. What about you? Is this something you try and prioritise every weekend?
How do you plan to access nature this weekend? I appreciate that some people find it much harder because of where they live but even a trip to the local park or getting outside and looking at some trees can help!
