3:15 - 4pm St Alphege School - Science After-school Club for Year 2
Tuesdays:

Here we are, learning about scientific concepts in small groups. There is enough time for everyone to ask questions and run trial and error investigations.
Learning science through ’doing’ is the best way! This is not always possible in the classroom. At The Little Science Society we make sure there is a way of solving a problem by trying a number of different methods and learning from our mistakes.
Most importantly, children grow confidence in making mistakes, giving wrong answers….they are becoming true scientists by exploring and not guessing or following suggestions.
I’m very proud of all my little scientists 🥹❤️
What is a chemical reaction? How is it different from physical reaction? Is it exothermic or endothermic? How do reactants differ from products? How can we change the outcome?…. All these questions can be easily answered by performing the experiment.
And no matter the age or the scientific knowledge- you can investigate! The Little Science Society classes and workshops provide an opportunity for you and your child to experience scientific inquiry 🔬🔭🧪👩🏼🔬. Come along and experience the real science, and relate it to every day life 👩🏼🔬❤️
Hello, something I have to share with you… I recently suffered a foot injury and it looks like I will be out of action for few weeks 🦶🩼
All classes, clubs and workshops are canceled this and next week. I will be contacting all booked attendees individually within next couple of days.
I will also be scheduling Term 6, so it should be available for booking in couple of days. Keep an eye for announcements 👀
See you all very soon 👩🏼🔬❤️
This week at The Little Science Society we carried out all sorts of inventions to do with HYDROGELS.
Fake snow, wall paper glue, water beads etc.
However, we investigated absorbency of hydrogels this week!!! And perhaps we should have shared the results with the main UK nappy brands producers 😉
It has been the best inquiry so far……
……next one is temperature change!
I look forward to introducing young scientists to International System of Units as well as thermometers, taking readings and ENDOTHERMIC REACTIONS 🤒 🧪👩🏼🔬❤️❤️❤️
I am happy to announce that we are re-starting science classes at The Horsebridge Whitstable on Thursdays at 2:15pm. 🧪🔬🧫🧬⚗️🔭

This workshop will focus on answering questions through scientific inquiry.
We will carry out 3 investigations:
• pH of substances
• osmosis
• Hydro-gels
Children together with grown-ups will have a chance to experience hands-on activities across different fields of science. We’ll focus on methods, variables, risk assessment and conclusions.

Term 5 starts on Friday
This term we will practice investigative skills across different Science disciplines 🔍🔬🧪
Head to https://bookwhen.com/thelittlesciencesociety for timetable and to secure your place. ❤️👩🏼🔬
Allowing children to investigate is so important to science because in science, the acceptance or rejection of a scientific idea depends upon the evidence relevant to it — not upon dogma, popular opinion, or tradition.

Introduction to Light 💡 such fun science classes. We support home educated children age 5-14 by running sessions every Friday. Please get in touch if you’d like to join our community 👩🏼🔬🧪🧬⚗️🧫🔭❤️
Light investigation after school science club last week was amazing! We reflected and refracted light rays. Something pupils normally experience when they prepare for GCSEs…. Our little scientists enjoyed playing with ray boxes, it was great! They’ll be one step ahead in their secondary school.
We still have some spaces for the club…check your mail box for how to book or message me directly.
We have a whole term of fun at Westmeads school planned ahead of us. 🔬⚗️🧪
This workshop will focus on celebrating science, technology, engineering and smashing stereotypes. Boys and girls together with grown-ups will have a chance to experience hands-on activities across different fields of science. We’ll look at Biomimicry, thermal energy, light, microbes and many more.

Today at Westmeads School Science Club, Year 1 & 2 pupils explored the amazing world of engineering.
They built structures using gummy sweets and cocktail sticks 👷and using problem solving skills, tried to improve their constructions. The greatest challenge however, was not to eat the resources 🙊🙈🙉
Hello lovely scientists 😃
First week of 2024 was rather interesting 💩😉
