Our toilet and shop facilities may be closed for the Winter, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a stroll around Minera Lead Mines and Country Park 🌳

The stunning Clywedog Valley makes for a lovely backdrop to immerse yourself in the season and stretch your legs.

We are looking forward to our Haunted Happening event where the ‘ghost of an old miner’ take you on a torch lit twilight tour of the woods surrounding Minera Lead Mines!

This event is now FULLY BOOKED. For those of you booked remember Torches & Wellies ESSENTIAL!

We maybe preapring to close for the winter but we still haeve two fantastic events to bring you before we do,

🤩 Sat 28th Oct - Join us for a mindful walk with some yoga and mindful breathing exercises with local instructor Steven Miller.

🤩 Mon 30th Oct - Join us for a spooky walk around Minera Lead Mines lead by the ghosts of times past. Hot chocolate and a craft at the end of the walk, £5 per person.

The interpretation centre, toilets and refreshment facilities are 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 every weekend up to and including half term.

1863-64 was Minera Lead Mines peak production year.

Recording a gross profit of £60,527 equivalent to £7.5 million in today's money 💷

It was in 1988 that work began to clear the 'spoil heaps' at Minera as they where deemed a threat to water supplies and public health.

It wasn't until the removal of these spoil heaps that the remains of the lead mining industry were uncovered and preserved.

Some of the miners' posessions and equipment from the industry were also discovered. Some of these items are on display in the interpretation centre.

Did you know that it was a butcher named Owen Jones from Chester that once owned the land at Minera where the Lead Mines are. It wasn't until after his death in 1679 that the mine became a success story.

We have held weekly volunteer sessions over the past few monhts thansk to Groundwork North Wales and The Landfill Disposal Tax grant scheme administered by WCVA CGGC.

The volunteers have made a huge difference to the site. Thanks

As the school holidays have now finished we are closed during the week but still open at weekends.

You can visit the interpretation centre free of charge and refuel after you have walked the site in our small shop (card payments accepted) all weekend.

Did you know we have artefacts on display in the interpretaton centre that where found on site during the orginal site excavations in 1988-1992.

The interpretation centre is open at weekends for you to learn all about the fascinating history of the site.

Now the children are back to school our opening hours have changed.

We are now open at weekends only. We hope to see you on Saturday and Sunday making the must of the ☀️☀️

Don't forget we are 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 Saturday & Sunday

𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 parking & 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 entry to the interpretation centre. Dogs are welcome & refreshments are available.

Please note the interpretation centre, shop & toilet facilities will be 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 on Bank Holiday Monday.

Remember though you can still access the care park free of charge and explore the site.

After you have visited the interpretation centre and had a walk around the site (and possible further) why not pop into the Community Hub for a hot drink and snack.

👉 Tomorrow, Thursday 17th August we have another FREE family-friendly craft session from 10 - 12 pm at Minera Lead Mines, near Wrexham.

Please note wet felting will not be available tomorrow, we will be creating beautiful Butterfly Automata. It's a great summer holiday session and the children will go home with a piece of artwork to be really proud of😇.

Just drop in there is no need to book !🦋🦋🦋
