๐คฉ Mon 30th Oct - Join us for a spooky walk around Minera Lead Mines lead by the ghosts of times past. Hot chocolate and a craft at the end of the walk, ยฃ5 per person.

The interpretation centre, toilets and refreshment facilities are ๐๐๐๐ every weekend up to and including half term.

1863-64 was Minera Lead Mines peak production year.
Recording a gross profit of ยฃ60,527 equivalent to ยฃ7.5 million in today's money ๐ท
๐ท North East Wales Archives .City Engine Hous, Meadow Shaft, about 1900.
It was in 1988 that work began to clear the 'spoil heaps' at Minera as they where deemed a threat to water supplies and public health.
It wasn't until the removal of these spoil heaps that the remains of the lead mining industry were uncovered and preserved.
Some of the miners' posessions and equipment from the industry were also discovered. Some of these items are on display in the interpretation centre.
Did you know that it was a butcher named Owen Jones from Chester that once owned the land at Minera where the Lead Mines are. It wasn't until after his death in 1679 that the mine became a success story.

We have held weekly volunteer sessions over the past few monhts thansk to Groundwork North Wales and The Landfill Disposal Tax grant scheme administered by WCVA CGGC.
The volunteers have made a huge difference to the site. Thanks
As the school holidays have now finished we are closed during the week but still open at weekends.
You can visit the interpretation centre free of charge and refuel after you have walked the site in our small shop (card payments accepted) all weekend.
Did you know we have artefacts on display in the interpretaton centre that where found on site during the orginal site excavations in 1988-1992.
The interpretation centre is open at weekends for you to learn all about the fascinating history of the site.
Now the children are back to school our opening hours have changed.
We are now open at weekends only. We hope to see you on Saturday and Sunday making the must of the โ๏ธโ๏ธ

๐ Tomorrow, Thursday 17th August we have another FREE family-friendly craft session from 10 - 12 pm at Minera Lead Mines, near Wrexham.
Please note wet felting will not be available tomorrow, we will be creating beautiful Butterfly Automata. It's a great summer holiday session and the children will go home with a piece of artwork to be really proud of๐.
Just drop in there is no need to book !๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ
