SPORTS NIGHT! 🏈

Tonight, our cadets spent their evening learning key techniques that they can use whilst playing Tag Rugby. An excellent effort, well done all! 👏🏻

GCSE RESULTS DAY 2024 👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓

Best of luck to all those collecting results today! Several of our cadets will be taking a step into their future today - we wish them all the best!

Some of our cadets also collected A-Level results last week and are already preparing for their next steps.

S5 FIELDCRAFT EXERCISE 🪖

This weekend we hosted cadets from across No 2 Welsh Wing ATC to take part in a day in the field! Cadets learnt the basics of fieldcraft, including how to camouflage themselves into their surroundings, why things are seen, and how to build a two-person shelter.

FLYING ✈️✈️✈️

Today at , three Berwyn cadets flew in the Grob Tutor. Cpl Hayes and Webb had their first sortie and Sgt Draper had her second.

Last night cadets took part in debating led by CI Bate. Some very passionate arguments made 👊 but it was kept professional! Well done all!

LOWLAND WALKING 🥾

Today, cadets from 1251 ventured outdoors to complete a lowland walk in the local area. Well done all - another fantastic weekend! 👏🏻

DRILL NIGHT 📢

Tonight cadets practiced their drill skills and learned some new skills. Great work by everyone demonstrating discipline and dedication 💪

ROAD MARCHING 🥾

Last month, several cadets did a weekend of road marching. From this weekend, two cadets achieved their blue road marching badges and other cadets got some valuable practice towards doing their bronze and silver badges.

ANNUAL CAMP 2024 ✈️

Two of our cadets - Cpl Bennet-Williams and Cdt Cank have been on annual camp this week at RAF Leeming. They have had the opportunity to meet some serving RAF personnel, go climbing/abseiling, visit museums, and much more!

A fantastic experience and a massive thanks to Flt Lt Buxton and his team for escorting the cadets.

30 cadets and 9 staff from around the Wing are on Summer Camp this week - the first full day today has seen a trip to Yorkshire Air Museum ✈️

HIGHTOWN ACTIVITY DAY 💥

Last weekend, cadets from 1251, 2279, and 2518 participated in activities such as leadership, first aid, drill, banner drill, and radio comms.

This week, our cadets have spent time learning different musical instruments and practicing their skills!

D-DAY EVENING 🇬🇧

On Monday, our cadets along with cadets and staff from 2279 (Wrexham) and 856 (Chirk) took part in several fantastic activities which were related to D-Day. Everyone learned a lot about the events of that day.

The squadron spent the end of the evening remembering those who gave their lives for liberty in Europe.

We will remember.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER ROAD MARCH! 🥾

Yesterday, 3 of our cadets completed a 25km Road March and achieved the Blue Road Marching Badges!

Road Marching helps cadets to improve their personal discipline and teamwork skills. Well done all! 🎉🎊

BASIC FIELDCRAFT! 🪖

This evening, our cadets continued their studies into the basics of fieldcraft, including how to prepare food and cook meals in the field, and Hygiene in the field

This evening, our cadets took part in a range of different leadership and team building activities, organised by the squadron's SNCO cadre.

Yesterday, cadets and staff visited Oulton Park for a day of Superbike Racing.

JUNIOR CADETS PASS OUT 🫡

Last night, the Squadron hosted it's passing out parade where several of our newest cadets passed out and were awarded their First Class in front of family and friends.

The reviewing officer for the parade was Squadron Leader Horabin RAFAC, Sector 6 Commander, No 2 Welsh Wing.

APRIL ROUNDUP! 🛩️

In April, our cadets excelled in a range of different activities, from training on rifles to lowland walking over a total of 8 days at the squadron over weekends! We also welcomed 2 new NCO's into the team. 🎉

Well done on another successful month everyone - We look forward to seeing what May brings! 🛩️🌿

PASS OUT PARADE

Thursday 2nd May will be our Annual Passing Out Parade at our HQ in Ruabon.

TREKKING DAY

Today the cadets were out undertaking further navigation training in preparation for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expeditions in the Summer. Today was also an opportunity for CFAVs to gain a Quality Lowland Day in preparation for the Mountain Training Lowland Leader Award which they hope to attain later this year!

INITIAL WEAPONS TRAINING 💥

4x cadets with Sgt Edwards RAFAC and Sgt Jones RAFAC from 1251 attended an L98A2 Inital Weapons Training Course this weekend.

All cadets and staff passed a rigorous Weapons Handling Test to prove they can safely and effectively handle the rifle. The cadets can now look forward to target shooting and fieldcraft exercises to put their shooting skills into practice. Staff meanwhile can look to do courses to support more shooting activities.
