GCSE RESULTS DAY 2024 π©βππ§βπ

Some of our cadets also collected A-Level results last week and are already preparing for their next steps.
S5 FIELDCRAFT EXERCISE πͺ
This weekend we hosted cadets from across No 2 Welsh Wing ATC to take part in a day in the field! Cadets learnt the basics of fieldcraft, including how to camouflage themselves into their surroundings, why things are seen, and how to build a two-person shelter.

Today at , three Berwyn cadets flew in the Grob Tutor. Cpl Hayes and Webb had their first sortie and Sgt Draper had her second.

DRILL NIGHT π’
Tonight cadets practiced their drill skills and learned some new skills. Great work by everyone demonstrating discipline and dedication πͺ
ROAD MARCHING π₯Ύ
Last month, several cadets did a weekend of road marching. From this weekend, two cadets achieved their blue road marching badges and other cadets got some valuable practice towards doing their bronze and silver badges.

ANNUAL CAMP 2024 βοΈ
Two of our cadets - Cpl Bennet-Williams and Cdt Cank have been on annual camp this week at RAF Leeming. They have had the opportunity to meet some serving RAF personnel, go climbing/abseiling, visit museums, and much more!
A fantastic experience and a massive thanks to Flt Lt Buxton and his team for escorting the cadets.
30 cadets and 9 staff from around the Wing are on Summer Camp this week - the first full day today has seen a trip to Yorkshire Air Museum βοΈ

SOLO GLIDING ACHIEVEMENT βοΈ
Last month, CWO Lewis Hughes completed a solo flight in a glider. As a result, he has achieved his silver gliding wings to add to his aerospace rΓ©sumΓ© along with the Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course.

HIGHTOWN ACTIVITY DAY π₯
Last weekend, cadets from 1251, 2279, and 2518 participated in activities such as leadership, first aid, drill, banner drill, and radio comms.

D-DAY EVENING π¬π§
On Monday, our cadets along with cadets and staff from 2279 (Wrexham) and 856 (Chirk) took part in several fantastic activities which were related to D-Day. Everyone learned a lot about the events of that day.
The squadron spent the end of the evening remembering those who gave their lives for liberty in Europe.
We will remember.

Last night, the Squadron hosted it's passing out parade where several of our newest cadets passed out and were awarded their First Class in front of family and friends.
The reviewing officer for the parade was Squadron Leader Horabin RAFAC, Sector 6 Commander, No 2 Welsh Wing.

In April, our cadets excelled in a range of different activities, from training on rifles to lowland walking over a total of 8 days at the squadron over weekends! We also welcomed 2 new NCO's into the team. π

TREKKING DAY
Today the cadets were out undertaking further navigation training in preparation for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expeditions in the Summer. Today was also an opportunity for CFAVs to gain a Quality Lowland Day in preparation for the Mountain Training Lowland Leader Award which they hope to attain later this year!

INITIAL WEAPONS TRAINING π₯
4x cadets with Sgt Edwards RAFAC and Sgt Jones RAFAC from 1251 attended an L98A2 Inital Weapons Training Course this weekend.
All cadets and staff passed a rigorous Weapons Handling Test to prove they can safely and effectively handle the rifle. The cadets can now look forward to target shooting and fieldcraft exercises to put their shooting skills into practice. Staff meanwhile can look to do courses to support more shooting activities.
