If your interested in joining then just come down to squadron on a parade night and see what its all about! We will be happy to see you and show you around and discuss the opportunities available to all Air Cadets.
Blue wings have been awarded to two more Wrexham cadets! They both took to the skies last weekend in Viking winch-launch gliders and saw the sights over and around RAF Woodvale. What an exciting half term! 🪽✈️
Two cadets braved the mountains today for some outdoor climbing! All suited and booted ready to take on Snowdonia ⛰️🥾
Cadets and staff from 2279 are excited to be a part of No. 2 Welsh Wing Road Marching Team! The team is always looking for new cadets to try road marching, with a mix of experienced cadets ready to give a helping hand. The same also goes for staff with a good mix of roles available to try. Wrexham cadets are excited for what comes next! Thanks to for hosting the last few marches! 🥾
Blue road marching badges have been awarded to two of our cadets this weekend! To achieve the blue road marching badge, these cadets have completed a 15km, 20km and a 25km road march. Yesterday, the 25km, was a tough one with hills and high temperatures, but these two knocked it out of the park! Congratulations both! 🥾☀️
And a special thank you to this amazing firefighter who spent some time with our young ladies of the squadron to send out some positivity and encouragement. 2279 is incredibly lucky to have amazing young ladies in our squadron, and to know we have support out in the community makes it even easier for them to run with the new skills they’re learning 💪🏼
The HIGHlight of the night, if you’ll pardon the pun 😅 The cadets’ high point of the visit was 100% being sent up into the air in the cage! We must stress that all cadets were accounted for back on the ground afterwards…
Who wore it best? 🚨🔥🔔
2279 Sqn would like to send a huge thank you to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service! The Wrexham station crews hosted us last night and showed us everything there is to know about how a fire station is run, and the hands on experiences were incredible! More photos to come in the following posts… 🔔🔥🚨🚒
Promotions Alert! 🔔 Well done to these five who have exceeded expectations and have earned their stripes (or more stripes for one of them)! Four new cadet corporals and one new cadet sergeant in the ranks. Our team is getting stronger, ready for a summer filled with activities 🙌🏼
With it being the Easter school holidays, our cadets completed a STEM exercise over two evenings. The goal was to make an egg run out of bits of scrap, then use different treats to see how strong their run was, and how quickly they could roll their treats down from top to bottom. And the best bit? They all got to take their treats home at the end (if they made it out of the building without being eaten first)! 🐣🐇
Huge thank you to 1251 Sqn for hosting the biggest and most challenging Easter Egg Hunt we’ve seen! Wrexham cadets enjoyed themselves and have made some friends from around North and Mid Wales 🏴 🥾🐣🐇
Well done to these two cadets for completing their 20km road march! This group are working towards their blue badge. They did excellently despite 45mph winds and many “slight gradients” (aka steep hills)! 💪🏼🥾✅
A massive congratulations to one of our keen bean cadets, who has completed the bronze syllabus for road marching! A bronze road marching badge now on the brassard. The bronze badge signifies a cadet has completed 2x 20km marches, which is a really impressive achievement! #
A big well done to all of the cadets who attended the 15km road march today with cadets from every corner of No. 2 Welsh Wing! If you need us, we’ll all be resting up ready for the next one!
Tonight we worked on our camo skills 😎 can you find us. Swipe to reveal 👀
PTT done for these three cadets today. Thank you 631 Sqn for hosting. Part Task Training is the first step to the blue wings badge, with the next step being a flight in a real aircraft! ✈️
Initial Expedition Training Day ✅🏕️ Our recruits have now completed their IET section for their First Class badge. A big thanks to the recruits for their engagement and to our NCOs for supporting with the practical tasks 😃

Introducing our newest uniform member of staff Sgt Ryder ✨️ Congratulations on your promotion after a successful interview board with Wing Commander Kingman.
Ci Ryder studied hard for months in preparation for her interview board, and the results show 😀
As we say, preparation is key 🔑
One of the biggest days of the year for our Cadets. Thank you to all the Cadets and staff who braved the rain and cold temperatures to commemorate Remembrance today. Thank you also to our fantastic Civilian Committee for helping us all to warm up afterwards with hot soup! We are so proud of everyone!
Last Sunday some of our cadets joined some of our local Veterans to support the launch of the RBL Poppy Appeal in Wrexham. The cadets from 2279 (Wrexham) and 1251 (Berwyn) Squadrons had a great time getting to know the Veterans and to see what the Poppy Appeal means to them and our community.
The cold and wet weather doesn’t stop our cadets from having fun on sports nights! 🪂

Well done to all of the recruit flight on gaining their first class, and the rest of the Squadron on gaing some well deserved badges.
Last night we had the privilege of gathering together to celebrate the passing out of our recruits from the April 2023 intake! The recruits have undergone six months of initial training and have now earned their First Class badges and certificates. Four cadets from the recruit flight were awarded Best Recruit, Most Improved and Best Engagement awards. We also presented cadets from the other flights in the squadron with Blue First Aid, Blue Leadership and Blue Duke of Edinburgh awards! Our recruits said their Cadet Promise for the first time and many of our established cadets had the opportunity to renew their promise for the first time since the coronation of King Charles III. Hard work has definitely paid off. The tea and cake afterwards was also the cherry on the top of a fabulous evening. Congratulations to all! 🍰✈️
