Good Morning Everyone ⛅

What an evening we had last night we went from around 20 followers to over 300👏 I can't quite believe it and am still jumping for joy.

We will hopefully🤞have pork to sell by the end of the year but there will be regular posts so you can follow us along the way and see just how well are pigs are treated. 🇬🇧🐷

Hi Everyone,
I thought id take some time to properly introduce myself and explain how and why I am starting Summerfield Free Range Pigs.

My name is Allegra (i'm the one in the pictures above/below where ever they end up) I am not from a farming family but realized that the agricultural sector was where I wanted to be employed when I began working on a dairy farm for my work experience in year 10 aged 15. Once I finished secondary school I moved away from home to Bishop Burton College and began a level three diploma in agriculture. Two years passed and I completed the course and somehow managed to get a triple distinction grade.

While at college I realized that unless you're from a farming family or know farmers it is really hard to get a job in the sector. This is when the idea of The Free Range Pig Company was born. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to own my own business and have a brand that people know and love. While at college I did a lot of work with pigs due to the fact that I lived on campus and the farm where short staffed. This made me realise that it was a pig business that I wanted to have.

I decided that I wanted to use rare breeds as I find them a lot more interesting than commercial breeds and they are not widely known about. As well as this they produce a kind of meat that is not common on the market as it is a lot more flavour some than other pork. Rare breeds are a lot hardier than the commercial breeds so it would only be right that they live outdoors.

Although this is only the beginning of the business you can expect a lot of brilliant thing's to come. We hope you enjoy watching how we produce pork the old fashioned way.

Our meat will be as fresh as possible due to the fact that pork will be produced to order meaning that you recieve your pork as soon as we collect it from the butcher.
