Hi again and thank you for all the dms which I will answer individually. I thought it might be useful to answer a few of the queries publicly as well to give you a clearer picture of my ideas.

You can decide on whatever it is you would like to learn to cook, from brownies and cakes to healthy soups, beef wellington to healthy salads and casseroles to dinner party dishes. I can help introduce you to any cuisine you would like to become more confident in be it Italian, French, Thai, Indian etc. I can help you plan dinner parties and prepare for them. Before I arrive we will have chosen the dishes and I will send you an ingredients list. Any equipment you may not have I will bring with me and you can learn in the comfort of your own kitchen which I believe will enable you to confidently recreate the dishes we cook more easily.
I will charge by the hour or part thereof and be able to give you a guide as to how long we might need.

Hi all. After making the decision to close the shop because I was no longer living in the village I’ve realised how much I miss the interaction with people who share my passion for great food. I also miss all the cooking I was doing to supply the shop with brownies, cakes and savouries. It’s led me to think that perhaps I could offer personalised one to one or small group cooking lessons for people looking to improve or expand their skills. I would come to you so you are learning in your own environment and can tailor the lessons specifically to you. Larking’s will not be reopening as I have moved out of the village and unfortunately, just can’t make it work from a distance. Thank you to everyone from Bishopthorpe and beyond for your support and custom, it really was hugely appreciated. We may well reappear in a different location so watch this space….

Larking's will be closed on Saturday 2nd October and then from Saturday 9th, re-opening on Tuesday 19th October. We are taking a well earned rest but look forward to seeing you when we are back 😊

Today seems perfect for carrot cake topped with caramelised walnuts and pistachios 😊 and we are still trying to use up the abundant courgettes so why not come and try our courgette, roasted pepper and tomato quiche packed with pitchfork cheddar cheese.... We also have a couple of new additions from our friends at Borderfields. Their flavoured rapeseed oils are amazing and we particularly love their garlic and chilli versions.

What to do with courgettes.... make a Pistachio, lemon and courgette cake of course ❤️

This morning we are introducing our new spinach and ricotta slice, full of goodness and flavour.... and our Indian roasted spiced veg roll which has the warmth that red chilli brings along with fragrant spices like fenugreek, garam massala and cumin. We would love you to try them and let us know what you think 😊

We are still getting our bread delivered daily from Bluebird Bakery and have introduced quesadillas to our takeaway menu 😀

We are open today until 2pm. No bread this week as Bluebird Bakery are having a well earned rest, but we have lots of lovely sweet treats and savoury scones, and the panini machine is on! Or why not try one of our tasty fillings in a quesadilla?

It is our aim to remain open through lockdown and support our community as best we can. As we can’t be sure how busy it will be we plan to cut back a little on our bread selection but if you would like to preorder any please let us know before 12 noon two days before you require it and we will happily order it in for you to collect.
