We are very excited to welcome everyone back to school tomorrow. 🤗We look forward to seeing some new faces and hearing all the news from our past students. Junior infants will finish at 12:30pm from the 29th of August until the 11th of September. From the 12th of September and for the rest of the year the Junior Infants finish at 2:00pm. See ye all tomorrow.😊

Cash for Cobbler organised by the Parents’ Association will be taking place today Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th during school hours. Bags can be dropped to the portacabin.

Today it is the boys’ soccer teams turn in the FAI Schools Primary Competition. Wishing both teams the best of luck. We are very proud of both teams. We Look forward to hearing about it. 👏👏⚽️🥅🏟️

A big thank you to Saint Mary’s High School, Midleton for hosting Ms. Lahive’s 5th and 6th class at their amazing musical Shrek. The children loved watching it and had a fabulous time. We are very grateful. They were blown away by the performance and the costumes. 👏💕

We are sorry for the delay but would like to thank all the grandparents who came on grandparent’s day. 💕The children loved showing them their school and playing with them. We learned so much about when their grandparents were at school. Thank you grandparents for answering all the questions. 📒✏️

We would like to thank the Parents Association and every parent, student and supporter for supporting the cake sale, raffle, school concerts and Remembrance tree/Christmas tree. Thank you to the GAA coaches for giving up their time and the fun filled day of activity on the Astro pitches. We are very grateful for everyones support. 💕

Tomorrow Thursday from 2-3:30 the Parents Association with help from some of our 6th class are running a cake sale in Ms. O’ Brien’s Senior Infant Classroom. Parents of infant classes can buy cakes from 2:00. Other classes can buy from 2:30.

We would be very grateful of any donations of cakes on Thursday morning at arrival time from parents in our school. Thank you to all who will contribute to this and to the students and Parents Association for running the bake sale, it is much appreciated.

The children were all delighted to see the Christmas tree that was delivered and donated by Brodericksfilling Station. A big THANK YOU to them for this lovely gesture and making all our day brighter. 🎄

Congratulations to the 5th & 6th class students of Holy Family National School Shanagarry - Shanagarry NS and their teacher, Norah Lahive for their spectacular entries for the 2023 Midleton Credit Union Art Competition. Becky from Midleton CU presented the class with their prizes, including a Special Recognition Award for Donnacha. Thanks so much for being a part of this year’s competition – and sorry for interrupting your chess games!

We are all loving these mixed media penguin pictures made by Ms. O’ Brien’s Senior Infants. Well done to them all for all their hard work and beautiful pictures. The children are learning all about living in a cold climate. 🐧❄️🌨️

All the classes have been enjoying orienteering and are learning map reading skills. 🗺️🧭
Lots of fun was had by everyone learning these new skills.

Yesterday we got another visit from the Cork Mobile Library bus. All the classes got to go out to the bus and pick out a library book. 📚All the students enjoy the opportunity to visit the bus and pick a book. Mary, the librarian even takes orders from the children of books they would like to read. What an great service. 🚍💕

Ms. Hassett’s 3rd and 4th class did projects on some of the counties of Ireland. Each child researched their chosen county. The students learnt so much about each county from each other and enjoyed learning new facts and information they didn’t know.

At present, 3rd and 4th class are learning about the Stone Age. They are designing their own poster about what they have learnt about the topic. We look forward to seeing the finished project when they complete the class design.

Ms. Lahive’s 5th and 6th class enjoyed exploring their own experiments during Science Week last week. The students used their talents within their groups. Pupils made models, worksheets for the class to fill in and posters to present their experiments to their class. The pupils explored the reaction between vinegar and baking soda using volcanoes, lava lamps, invisible ink, taste test using our senses and force with a catapult.
