Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder that affects approximately 12 - 21% of women of reproductive age (15 - 49 years) globally. It occurs when the ovaries produce too much androgen, leading to a variety of symptoms (irregular periods, weight gain and many more)

However, as the severity of symptoms experienced can vary drastically from person to person, it is estimated that a worrying 70% of women with PCOS remain undiagnosed.

Below are some interesting facts about PCOS
PCOS affects between 12 - 21% of women of reproductive age worldwide
PCOS is also associated with a higher risk of certain health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
Studies indicate that PCOS is more common in overweight or obese women
Women with PCOS are also at a higher risk of developing mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.

Unfortunately, The exact cause of PCOS is unknown and it is still cannot be cured, but the symptoms can be managed, Early diagnosis and treatment along with weight loss may Lowe the risk of long-term complications.
