Children perceive the world through the lens of our actions, not just our words. They are keen observers, absorbing not only what we say but, more significantly, how we navigate the complexities of life. Our behaviors become their guide, shaping their understanding of relationships, resilience, and values.

What do you model?

Dear Students,

Exams do not measure your intelligence, your worth or even your learning.
Exams simply measure your ability to digest and re-share information.
This information is often asked in trick-speak (to test the way your brain processes), in tense conditions and under pressure.
We can’t all do that.

Doesn’t mean you didn’t pay attention, study hard or try your very best.
Doesn’t mean your teachers have somehow failed you, nor have you failed them or let anyone down.

And it certainly doesn’t mean you are not amazing, wonderful humans with so much to offer this parched world.

Chances are you would be able to answer correctly on the same subjects in a relaxed environment with straight-shooting questions.

The exam system is flawed, but that’s okay, that’s life.
Life is flawed.
You tried your hardest and that has weight in this world of ours.
That matters.
Your time to shine will come.
And oh my, will you shine.

And no one will be able to measure that either.
What a wonderful thing.

HERE IS A LIST OF THE MANY WAYS IN WHICH PUTTING TOGETHER PUZZLES CAN BENEFIT YOUR CHILD

"There is no doubt that puzzles represent an excellent learning tool for children. They are available everywhere, affordable to purchase and come in whatever difficulty level needed. It’s no wonder this classic toy is loved by both parents and educators."

When a child is anxious, the urge to 'fix' the problem, talk them out of it, rationalise, or somehow 'do' something to make them feel differently can be overwhelming.

Just being with the distress, acknowledging it, validating that it is how it feels right now, and making space for that feeling, whilst holding on to your own 'okayness' is often just the co-regulation that is needed.

SETTING SIMPLE BOUNDARIES
The Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. It's one of those basic human philosophies

1. Say no to tasks you don't want to do - or don't have time to do.
2. Accept offers of support
3. Request help or assistance when needed
4. Learn to delegate tasks
5. Be protective of your time and don't overcommit.
6. Ask for space – we all need it at times
7. Thank people without apologisies, regret or shame
Accord others the same boundaries.
