Our kindergarten is situated in the heart of North East Valley where education is valued and supported within the community. We provide a well resourced environment that is responsive to children’s learning pathways and encourages children to be responsible for leading their own learning. We believe having fun is the cornerstone to building on prior learning and developing strategies to become a lifelong learner.
See the attached post for the Kā Manu Iti (the NEVN 4 year old programme) dates for their term 2 classes. 🙂

We so very appreciate the work of our amazing teacher aide Juliet Carrick.
We celebrated her today with a lovely morning tea, flowers, and a card.
Thanks Juliet - you're an absolute gem and we love having you work with us.
Kia ora JRK Whānau,
As you can see, the teaching team has had a busy and adventurous term break, we can't wait to hear all about your holiday adventures when you all return to kindy tomorrow morning.
We hope you have had a great break with your Whānau and are all recharged for an exciting term of learning.

Kia Ora JRK Whānau,
As we prepare the environment for the term break it has been amazing to reflect on all of the learning opportunities and experiences your Tamariki were engaged in during this term. It has certainly been a fun filled term of investigating, questioning, experimenting and nurturing of independence here at JRK. We hope your Tamariki have had an amazing term.....the Kaiako certainly have!
If you happen to notice any suspicious behaviour or have any concerns while the Kindergarten is closed this term break, you can get in touch with the Dunedin Kindergarten head office on 455 8892, and they will be able to help.
The teaching team look forward to seeing you all on the 29th of April, when kindy reopens for term 2.
Have an amazing term break Whānau

Kia ora JRK Whānau,
We were so incredibly lucky to have had an enthusiastic group of 1st year students, from St Margaret's College, join us last week as part of their 'O-Week Voluneteering' project.
All 15 students were not afraid to get their hands dirty and did an outstanding job in tidying up our fence line, side gardens and our enterance way!
A huge thank you to Unicrew and St Margaret's College for organising this event.

Tina & Constable Sam are here in Queensbury street, ready to run their car seat clinic.
They will be here until 3pm, if you would like to come down to see them 🙂
Kia ora Whānau ,
Tina Mangos from Plunket has organised an amazing opportunity for our kindergarten whānau, & the wider NEV community, to have your car seats checked before the Christmas break.
Please see the attached poster for further information regarding the service that Tina will provide at these safety checks.
This will take place tomorrow (19th Dec) between 1:45-2:45, in two of the vertical Ross Home carparks, just past the kindergarten boundary.

It has been a fun-filled week of celebrating the festive season here at JRK.
We held a teddy bears picnic, pamper day, a Whānau Christmas Picnic down at Chingford Park, and yesterday we concluded the week by sitting as a Whānau to enjoy some pizza and hash bites. It was the quietest lunch time we have ever experienced at JRK! The Tamariki certainly enjoyed their kai.
We would like to personally thank LJ Ho**er Dunedin for making our teddy bears picnic a memorable experience for the Tamariki!
A special mention needs to go out to our fabulous committee for funding this week's events, as well as to all of our Whānau who support them in their fundraising efforts throughout the year!
It has been a truly heartwarming week watching the Tamariki embrace & experience the magic and sense of wonder this season brings to their play & learning.

Day 2 of Festive week
We had a visit from Bronwyn’s twin sister Suzie.
We made Christmas craft to take home and the afternoon brought a Christmas movie and ice block time.
Fingers crossed for some sunny weather tomorrow for our teddy bears picnic and our kindy Xmas party.
Today kicked off our Festive Fun week with a Wacky Hair Day and a warmer day topped off with some berry ice cream.
Our pavlova orders arrived and they are ready for collection. Thanks to those of you who contributed to the fundraiser and the committee for their assistance with this - Dave and Hazel picked up and sorted the orders for us.
Tomorrow is festive crafts and a movie afternoon.
See you all for more fun tomorrow!
Tomorrow JRK kaiako will be standing with our colleagues in the ECE sector.
We'll be wearing black and yellow to support a Day of Action across Aotearoa.

This week we are having a small focus on the redevelopment of some of our favourite playgrounds around Dunedin.
Please see the link which includes the flyover and plans.
Dunedin Destination playground Information about the services and facilities provided and managed by the Dunedin City Council for residents and visitors to Dunedin.
Check out the new destination playground designs. Woodhaugh, Marlow (Dinosaur Park) and Mosgiel are in for some significant upgrades.
The Dunedin City Council are asking for feedback on the designs.
We’re asking for feedback on plans for Dunedin’s three destination playgrounds at Marlow Park (the Dinosaur Park), Woodhaugh Gardens and Mosgiel Memorial Gardens. We’ve listened to your ideas and have put together proposed concept plans to turn these playgrounds into modern destination playgrounds.
We’re introducing some exciting changes at the playgrounds: they will have inclusive play for all ages, water, sand and music play, skateboarding, parkour, trampolines, climbing nets, basket swings, inclusive carousels, log scrambles, play towers and spinning see-saws and shaded, sheltered spaces for families to gather.
You can see the plans, and flythrough videos and fill in the feedback form at www.dunedin.govt.nz/destination-play You can also attend one of our open days or drop-ins if you would like to talk to us in person about the playgrounds. We’ll provide further details soon.
Feedback closes on Monday, 4 December 2023.
$61.60. Thank you all so much! What a great community effort!

We were extremely lucky to have had some extra special visitors today at JRK!
