🎉 Stallholder Spotlight – Holy Crepe 🎉

Toma's journey with crepes ignited in 2012 upon his arrival in New Zealand, where he began working as a backpacker for a creperie in Wellington. Over the course of seven years, he climbed the ranks to become a director, assisting in expanding the business to Auckland. After a brief hiatus and various other jobs, Toma returned to his passion when he, along with his partner and young child, relocated from Auckland to Hawke's Bay in 2019.

Upon settling in Hawke's Bay, Toma noticed an absence of authentic French crepes in the region. Determined to address this gap, he launched Holy Crepe in 2021. He was over the moon to be accepted into the Farmers Market shortly thereafter, with Holy Crepe quickly becoming a local favourite. This early success fuelled Toma's drive to further develop the business, leading to its presence in various events throughout the year and the establishment of a shop at Bay Plaza Hastings, alongside his friend and associate, Abraham.

Holy Crepe prides itself on offering an authentic French experience with traditional recipes, such as their buckwheat base for savoury crepes (galettes). Being situated in Hawke's Bay and participating in the market has provided Toma with the opportunity to source quality local products and connect with passionate individuals, inspiring him with their professionalism and dedication.

Toma cherishes the interactions with customers, whether they are regulars, occasional visitors, or tourists. For him, the Farmers Market serves as a unique platform that brings people from diverse cultures and backgrounds together in a shared appreciation for good food and community.

The market represents the foundation of Holy Crepe's business, and the sight of happy customers every week serves as a driving force for Toma and his team. Yet, he recognises that the entire Holy Crepe journey wouldn't have happened without stumbling upon affordable cooking plates during a mundane lockdown afternoon on TradeMe. This seemingly small discovery paved the way for Holy Crepe's establishment, highlighting the profound impact of chance decisions on shaping one's future.
