What an epic weekend at the Summerhill Skedaddle! Thanks to the crew for organising such a fun event. Well done to everyone. There was so many of us we couldn’t organise a photo of us all in the same spot at the same time. Missing from the photos are Deirdre B, Phil C and Yvette and Mike. Hopefully I haven’t missed anyone??? I think we clocked roughly 205km between us all…
What an epic weekends effort from our Te Pare whanau, prepare to be inspired! David G (his first) and Robyn M completed the Marathon in Rotorua. Ben H finished 9th in the mile run at Rotorua on Friday night and backed it up on Sat night with 2nd in the 10km finishing just 1 second behind 1st place. Also at "We run the night" on Saturday night at the Mount we had James Rau, Bella and Gracie Manktelow and Josh complete the 5km event. Bridget Simpson did the 10km and Ruth N won her age group in the 10km. Next up is the Summerhill Skedaddle next Sunday, last time I looked there are still entries available everyone????

Anyone keen????? Sounds like a fun event!
OUR winter Cross Country season opener is the Walnut Grove Relay this coming Saturday, 27th April, at Waipuna Park in Welcome Bay.
Using a 1km circuit, and teams of 3 (we try to make the teams as even as possible) with each team completing 9kms. So, a youngster might want to do just 1 lap or 2, someone fitter could do 4-5 laps and the other person does 3 - catch being you can't do more than one lap in a row! Lots of fun and a great introduction for young ones, a good work out for the older ones!
Everyone is welcome to come along and have a go, you don't need to be a club member and we'll follow it up with a bit of an afternoon tea too: if club members could bring a plate that would be awesome. 🍰🍪🧁☕🫖🍉
Please meet by the club rooms by 1:45pm so we can put some teams together, with the goal to start just after 2pm. There is no charge, just show up and have some fun!
On Sunday morning, 28th April, we have a longer run planned also from Waipuna Park, exploring the local Johnson's Reserve and some of the streets and other trails in the area. This is recommended for those that want a run of approx 5km or more, we will break into groups depending on ability, with the faster group covering 8-12km. Again: all welcome, be ready to go at 9am.
