[IN PHOTOS] Last September 19, 2024, the XU Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers - ppg conducted a seminar on 'Food Handling, Safety, & Sanitation' for food entrepreneurs at El Gaucho New Manresa Campus, Bugo, CDO. The aim of this seminar was to impart knowledge to the participants on best practices for safe food handling, raise awareness about the importance of sanitation in food preparation, and provide practical strategies to minimize foodborne illnesses.

From August 1 to 3, 2024, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan conducted the Orientation Seminar for Freshmen and Transferees at the University. The College of Agriculture participated in this annual event and welcomed the Aggie Freshies and Transferees with smiles and a radiant environment rooted in our mantra, "Blue Blood, Green Heart." 💙💚

The bulls were out and proud 🐂 as they cascaded their blazing energy throughout the event. 🔥

Here are some scholarship programs offered by the university:

For internal funded grant/assistance:

1. President' Scholarship: Top 1-15 Scorers of at least 96 in the Scholarship Examination. Coverage includes 100% school fees and reimbursement of up tp Php 10,000.00 for books, uniform, and ICT expenses.

2. Merit Scholarship: Top 16-30 Scorers of at least 96 in the Scholarship Examination. Coverage includes 100% school fees.

3. Academic Scholarship: Top 31-100 Scorers of at least 96 in the Scholarship Examination. Coverage includes full tuition and matriculation.

4. St. Ignatius of Loyola Scholarship: Top 1 and Top 2 of their Senior High School graduating batch with at least ninety (90) students. Coverage includes full tuition and matriculation.

5. St. Francis Xavier Scholarship: Scholarship Examination Scorers of at least 89 and whose total amount annual family income do not exceed Php 500,000.00. Coverage includes Php 25,000 per semester and Php 10,000.00 during the intersession, as required.

1. CHED Tulong Dulong Program: Benefits: Grantees or student beneficiaries are entitled to receive a grant at fifteen thousand pesos (Php 15,000.00) per academic school year.

2. City Scholarship Program: All scholars enjoy the privilege of free tuition and matriculation, and a monthly stipend. Also, scholars will go through four (4) formation levels under the Iskolar Leaders Academy (ISLA). Bridging between classroom knowledge and real-world applications.

On October 19-20, students from the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BS ABE) program had the unique opportunity to engage in a two-day event hosted by Kubota Philippines Inc. in collaboration with Rhema Agrimach and Industrial Corporation, which took place at Xavier University. The event was themed "Sa Makinaryang Agrikultura, Ani at Kita ay Masagana," focusing on the abundant yields that modern agricultural machinery can bring.

The first day of the event was dedicated to in-depth discussions on agricultural machinery, spanning from land preparation to the harvesting process. Topics covered a wide range of equipment, including tractors, seeders, transplanters, and combine harvesters. Additionally, some ABE students participated in a poster-making contest and engaged in various other activities on the same day.

The second day was particularly exciting, as participating students had the unique opportunity to get hands-on experience by test driving a variety of these modern agricultural machines at New Manresa El Gaucho, the new field laboratory of the XU College of Agriculture. Here, students had the chance to personally operate machinery such as tractors, automatic seeders, walk-behind transplanters, and combine harvesters.

Xavier University-- Ateneo de Cagayan facilitated a field trip to Balingasag Mariculture Park and FDC Misamis Powerplant last October 11, 2023, for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering students. Together with the students were the Faculties and Laboratory Technician of the ABE Department, headed by COA Dean Dr. Ma. Rosario B. Mosqueda. The field trip was designed to expose students to these sectors and deepen their relationship with the course while experiencing excellence.

At Balingasag Mariculture Park, students learned about the different aspects of marine aquaculture, including fish farming and harvesting. They also had the opportunity to observe the daily activities of the staff and interact with local fishermen.

At FDC Misamis Powerplant, students learned about the different processes involved in power generation, including coal combustion, and electricity transmission. They also had the opportunity to tour the plant's facilities and see the massive machineries that generate electricity for the region.

The field trip also highlighted Xavier University's commitment to providing its students with a holistic education that prepares them for success in their chosen careers. By exposing students to different industries and workplaces to develop the skills and knowledge they need to become leaders in their fields.

Xavier Ateneo's BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering program helps develop the processes and techniques of identifying, diagnosing, analyzing, and relating problems in planning, designing, constructing tools, equipment implements and machines, management of agricultural engineering systems and extension in increasing land, labor, and capital productivity.
