To sit for the CCS exam, candidates typically need to have a strong foundation in medical coding, which can be gained through education, on-the-job experience, or both.
While formal training in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and medical terminology is recommended, you don’t need to have a specific degree to apply. The exam covers both ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding systems, as well as Business of Medicine, so being well-versed in these is key! 📚

Coming from a non allied health background, I thought it will be very difficult to learn medical coding. But, with the guidance of Dr. Carlos and Ms. Franz, I was able to understand and adapt as to what medical coding is. They made sure that we are CPC exam ready by the end of the course.
