Hi everyone!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can barely believe we are already on the third week of January 2022. While I did not mean to go on a social media break, I did take a study break last December. Our family also traveled for the first time in two years to visit our loved ones in Manila and Cebu, and we just arrived back last week. It feels like I am just slowly waking up to the new year. But happy new year nonetheless, dear readers! 🥂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today is also the first full moon of the calendar year. A time of completion, of closures and endings but also the peak of clarity, the fullness of illumination. I would like to take this time to extend gratitude to all my students who have welcomed me on their screens, their hearts, and their transformational journeys this past year. Thank you! 💖
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is also a wonderful time to celebrate growth. I first encountered yoga back in 2003 and started teaching in 2015. Although my teaching path has changed significantly in recent years, becoming a childbirth educator as well as a prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher. One thing remains constant. Teaching has always been and will always be a process of self-discovery for me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I took a Birth Story Listening/Birth Story Medicine course in December, originally planning to proceed with it slowly and only taking part 1. But the impact (on my own experience) so profound and the work so important that I decided to take part 2 immediately. And as I dive deep into another training path this year, I am excited to share it with you.

My peace resides within me, I bring it along wherever I go.

Sometimes all we can do during the day is a short, simple stretch on our kitchen counter or by our bedside. Or relaxation means a few deep breaths after a long day in front of our laptops or phones. Every movement counts. Every moment counts ✨ even just a few minutes everyday helps than none at all.

Move lightly. Challenge yourself to move lightly 🤍 regardless if it’s a power yoga class or a gentle flow. In every moment, in every posture and every in-between pose, whether it’s a standing pose, seated pose or even an inversion. Meet every breath and moment on your mat (and in life really) with equanimity.

Hello 2021 ✨

30/12/2020

Day 2 of Holiday Companion Retreat with was all about exploring Reciprocity. Perhaps one of the reasons I gravitate towards this particular style of yoga and also mindfulness meditation (there are many different styles of movement and meditation! It’s nice to try and see which style suits you), is that I really resonate with being given a space that supports my own awareness. To receive what IS and not what could be, or should be.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In these classes, it is very rare for the teacher to say “you are now relaxed” as opposed to an exploration or witnessing of how you are really feeling in your own body, in your own breath. It seems simple or may sound like it’s just a matter of languaging, but to me it’s such a huge difference to have agency over your own body, mind, breath. The teacher acting only as a guide, a facilitator and the student a co-equal facilitator/explorer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So that we get to have a direct conversation with this instrument, this body we live in. Tuning in, listening. It’s not someone telling you what to do or what to feel.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How amazing it is to use your own awareness to show yourself your own strength (and weaknesses/shadows) and meet them with equanimity. So that you meet yourSelf in wholeness. 🤍

28/12/2020

Yesterday in the welcome circle of the 5-day retreat I am doing with my teacher Tara Judelle, we shared our intentions for joining. I’ve never been one to write down new year’s resolutions or mark significant dates to begin something new. (I do not even remember when I started practicing yoga, but I can vividly remember how it felt after that first class). This year has felt to me like going with the flow yet often times being swept away in the flow. I wholeheartedly accept the invitation to use the next few days as a touchstone to relearn this body-mind connection, ! Not to let these seemingly ordinary days (do you also sometimes feel this way about these days between christmas and new year?) slip by without intention, ritual, and gratitude. As always, I come to these collective spaces/gatherings with my own intentions, but come away with so much more. Here’s to embodying joy, clarity, freedom and creativity 🤍

27/12/2020

Endless possibilities await ✨
