Caritas Philippines joins the for this year's Season of Creation at St. Andrew's Theological Seminary, Quezon City.

"To hope and act with creation, then, means to live an incarnational faith, one that can enter into the suffering and hope-filled β€œflesh” of others, by sharing in the expectation of the bodily resurrection to which believers are predestined in Christ the Lord. In Jesus, the eternal Son who took on human flesh, we are truly children of the Father."

LOOK: The Diocesan Ecology Ministry and Saint Anthony’s College in the Diocese of Antique participate in the global Season of Creation 2024, themed "To Hope and Act with Creation."

On September 1, 2024, the Diocese launched the season with a presentation and orientation on Laudato Si', Pope Francis' encyclical on care for our common home. Facilitated by Valeria Tacchi, with support from Azzurra Boni, Fr. Frederick Rubido, and Mr. Bryan Siasat, the event, titled "Co-creator of Our Future: The Laudato Si' Program," explored the core principles of Laudato Si' and encouraged participants to take action.

Key topics discussed included:

βœ… Response to the Cry of the Earth
βœ… Response to the Cry of the Poor
βœ… Ecological Economics
βœ… Sustainable Lifestyles
βœ… Ecological Education
βœ… Ecological Spirituality
βœ… Community Resilience and Empowerment

Pope Francis' message in Laudato Si' calls for environmental stewardship and recognizes the interconnectedness of all creation. He challenges us to care for our planet and address ecological issues collectively.

Mr. Bryan Siasat introduced the Student Ecological Emissaries and Defenders (SEED) initiative, encouraging students to advocate for ecological justice. Fr. Frederick Rubido invited participants to join SEED, and all expressed their willingness.

The SEED members will now promote the Laudato Si' orientation in their college departments, using the module developed by Valeria Tacchi. A series of activities will take place across Diocesan schools in Tobias Fornier, Anini-y, Patnongon, San Remigio, Valderrama, Barbaza, Pandan, and Sebastian, culminating in a grand celebration to mark the end of the Season of Creation.

Let's work together towards a hopeful and sustainable future, guided by the vision of Pope Francis in Laudato Si'.
