SUNDAY MASS | Pope Francis In Papua New Guinea
The Church celebrates Mary’s birthday on September 8. This feast day is exactly nine months after the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th. The Blessed Virgin Mary’s birthday is significant due to her key role in salvation history. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (paragraph 489), many holy women prepared the way for Mary. From Eve, who received a promise of victory over evil, to Sarah, Hannah, Deborah, Ruth, Judith, and Esther, God chose those seen as powerless to fulfill His promises. Mary, as the humble and faithful servant, marks the fulfillment of these promises and the establishment of a new plan of salvation.
Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for us!
