"PAK-EPA CELEBRATES EID UL ADHA WITH A GET-TOGETHER

Islamabad, 20th of June, 2024: The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) family gathered in the committee room to celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid Ul Adha. The event began with a heartfelt recitation from the Holy Quran by Mr. Ibrahim Khan, setting a reverent tone for the gathering.

Director General Pak-EPA, Madam Farzana Altaf Shah, graced the occasion with her presence and delivered inspiring remarks. She emphasized the importance of dedication, hard work, and commitment to duty, enlightening the staff on the qualities of a good government servant.

The get-together was a wonderful opportunity for the Pak-EPA team to come together, exchange greetings, and strengthen their bond. The agency's management and staff extended warm wishes to each other, rejoicing in the spirit of Eid Ul Adha.

Public Hearing "Environmental Impact Assessment of Replacement of 54-inch Existing conductance main from Rawal Treatment Plant to Main Water Works of Sufaid Tanki, Rawalpindi Islamabad" has been rescheduled to 27th June, 2024 at 1030 in Seminar Hall, COMSATS University, Park Road, Islamabad.

34th Technical Advisory Committee Meeting (TAC)

The 34th Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting, chaired by the Director General of Pak-EPA, held on June 13, 2024. It was attended by chairpersons and members of Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBCs) along with other distinguished participants.
The meeting's agenda included discussions on lab manipulation, field trials, and commercialization of GMO crops in Pakistan. A sugarcane variety, after extensive field testing and biosafety data collection, awaits approval from the National Biosafety Committee (NBC) to become the first GM sugarcane commercialized in Pakistan. This milestone reflects Pakistan's progress in agricultural biotechnology and EPA's commitment to enhancing crop resilience and productivity.
Another notable achievement under the Pak-BCH initiative is the development of comprehensive web portal for streamlimed case submission and stake holder engagement. Pak-BCH has introduced its software to digitalize and simplify the case submission and review process.
