🎤 Nam Hwa Blazes: Sing With Friends returns for another exciting performance!

Nam Hwa Opera’s Pharyngeal Voice Training class has helped countless Teochew opera enthusiasts and singers improve their vocal techniques, emphasizing the importance of healthy vocalization.

Our students, along with talented performers from Wu Xiaoqi Music Studio and the Hwa Chong Alumni Association karaoke class, will showcase the vocal skills they’ve honed. Together, they will celebrate their growth and shared passion for singing!

A heartfelt thank you to all the Punggol residences and audience who came forward to support Teochew Opera performers at Punggol 21 Community Club yesterday!

这八月的《万紫千红》将为大家呈献三出潮剧的折子戏精选段，这次表演融合了喜剧与熟悉的元素。

首先是《周不错》，讲述了一位在凉亭卖糕饼的少年向一个盲算命师寻求婚姻运势的故事。接下来是《训夫》，剧情中御医胡植与三位御医断出当朝公主未婚怀孕，他们紧张害怕，施计欺瞒，导致驸马陷入牢狱。胡植对此事感到内疚，被他的妻子胡氏发现真相，并教训她的夫君，告诫他为官应正直。胡植幡然悔悟，入宫澄清事实。最后是《红箱缘》，刘母与儿子回娘家，女儿玉娴将岳雷藏匿于红箱中。兄妹之间产生误会，幸得母亲明理，最终促成两人喜结连理。

In August Nam Hwa Blazes, we present 3 captivating Teochew opera excerpts with an enchanting blend of humor and light-hearted elements into this performance.

We have "The Fortune-teller, Zhou Bucuo". A cake-seller seeks marriage luck from a blind fortune teller. And not forgetting to mention, the all-time favorite Teochew Opera piece “Disciplining the Husband”. The Remorseful Medical Officer Huzhi, and three colleagues discover that the u***d princess is pregnant. To avoid punishment, they implicate the prince cohort, leading to imprisonment. Huzhi’s wife urges him to confess and save the prince's consort from ex*****on.

Lastly, we have “A Match Made By The Red Chest”, Chu Ren seeks a suitor for his sister, Yu Xian. While he and his mother left the manor seeking help from his uncle, Yu Xian hides Yue Fei in a red chest to avoid capture. This action leads to a misunderstanding between the siblings.
