Greetings from The Curious People…
Yesterday marked a significant achievement for The Curious People Solutions as we successfully wrapped up our extensive collaboration spanning over a year consulting RSIS, a renowned think tank at NTU and a leading research institute in Southeast Asia focusing on Security and International Policies. This milestone underscores our unwavering dedication to maintaining our high standards and excellence in the realm of human-centered research in design thinking consulting, a fundamental aspect of our company.
The gathering yesterday involving scholars, academics, research associates, and government representatives to envision the future trajectory of RSIS was a resounding success, receiving endorsements and accolades commending our innovative approach and rigorous methodology in research and design thinking consulting.
We shall now turn the page and embark on the implementation phase journey with RSIS.
What does this mean? 🤓
It means that businesses must *FIRST have* some resemblance of a corporate culture - preferably a strong and healthy one in order to embrace such arrangements with confidence. Such that productivity, commitment and standards are maintained and could be strengthened.
The government will only dictate that you process FWA (and they are doing this in the country’s interest to make Singapore a desirable place to attract foreign talents).
But what the government won’t tell u is what businesses *must have foundationally* so that employees will continue to thrive and business growth can be exponential in such an arrangement.
Already as it is in the current scheme of things, there exists a myriad of human-based problems in the workplace (_silos, communication breakdown, politics, etc…_). In a FWA scenario, will these problems remain status quo or increase?
*Therefore culture building and culture-fit talent acquisition & development are key in the future more than ever*. 😜😝
_If employees are positively bound by the company’s culture they can work from anywhere in the world at anytime of the day and it will never hurt the business. It is more than just work, it is about the meaning of work._
All employers must have process for workers to request flexible work arrangements from December Employers must give their decision on a flexible work arrangement request within two months, and provide the reason if it is rejected.
On January 28, 2023, Yuja Wang joined The Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin at Carnegie Hall for a once-in-a-lifetime, all-Rachmaninoff 4-hr marathon concert that featured the composer’s four piano concertos plus his “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.”
Heart rate monitors were placed on Yuja Wang, the conductor, orchestra musicians, and members of the audience and this experiment revealed everyone’s heartbeat were insync with the music and each other. ❤️😍🥰.
*My personal takeaway:*
In the corporate world I believe music is like the culture of a company or group of people. It is supposed to make people work insync.
Culture is important coz only then can we ensure that everyone knows what to do and how to do it well and so that everything works in tandem without any hiccup.
Is there such companies out there? The answer is *YES there are many!* I have worked in two myself 🥰
*Interdependent*

If you are not clear of who u are then u r not clear about how to create!
Whatever u create, create becoz it comes from some very deep place inside u that expresses who u really are.
The distinctiveness that sets u apart from others allows u to create things that are identifiable and uniquely urs.
100% of customers are people
and 100% of clients are people
and 100% of employees are people
they are the reason your product exist
they are the target of your marketing
they are the user of your design
So if you don’t understand people you don’t understand business …….. Be Curious about People ❤️
Even in our daily communication we can witness Design Thinking actively taking place in the background…. Language may divide us but Communication unites us….. becoz communication is all about making connections 😉❤️ We don’t need a good command of language to communicate with one another; it’s all about understanding the person/people we are trying to connect with. Which results in a fruitful relationship 😉

This is why we are passionate about what we do at The Curious People Solutions…..
Customer Service has always been important but for businesses that sell intangible products that one can neither keep and use, it then becomes priceless as it’s all about an experience. This is where customer service is of paramount importance.
The key here lies in her comments: "I want us to think about our customers first," Tottori said, adding that she wanted to "create a group where employees are genuinely excited to work and can achieve their potential."
The above was echoed by the Chairman “…she will be able to prioritize our customers while bringing out the best in our employees, steadily boosting the value of JAL Group as a leader for a new age,"
*Reflections:*
Most businesses always find themselves in a dilemma of which comes first the customers or the products that they are in business about (of course most think of only the products). Well in Design Thinking the answer is plain and simple, all things, activities and events exist because of humans whom have needs for all those things, activities and events; therefore, the only 1 rule is to always focus on the customers (external & internal) their needs are the reasons/justifications for the existence of those products.

Positive Thinking is a fraud, and seeing Possibility is a language of creation!
In a hybrid work environment or work from home environment the cultural or social contract that holds people together in a company is unquestionably weaker.
The Curious People Solutions have developed a way to overcome this - CULT. It’s a holistic HR solutions system where we start with hiring the right fit to the corporate culture and then put systems in place to ensure adherence.
Billionaire Citadel founder Ken Griffin says employers won't go the 'extra distance' to keep hybrid workers on the payroll: 'It's an email to all ... and goodbye' "There's no sense of 'That's Jane who's worked down the hall with me for years, and I'm going to go the extra distance to keep Jane employed here,'" Griffin told a Miami conference.
We agree that collaboration, mentorship and employee engagement all suffer without the office. However we don’t agree with the practice (that the contributor & employers cite) of observing and monitoring employees.
The article’s contributor Julia Pollak offers a better solution: “Invest in middle managers as connecting leaders between front-line employees and upper management”. There’s only one solution mentioned in the article, so which solution is that better than? 😅
In our opinion, that is still observing and monitoring but this time done by the employees’ direct employ 😉 (middle managers are still management and they receive more stress because they are caught in between, handling two opposing groups)
The challenges with remote work can never be solved unless we start the journey right by employing the right employees that fit with the company’s culture (which is embedded in the vision, mission, and values of the company). It’s only when we have employees who innately share and believe in the company’s vision mission and values are we able to truly exercise empowerment, which removes the need to observe and monitor. Observing and monitoring should be taken care of by a well structured/defined OKR system of performance management.
Therefore it’s more important to hire the right fit with the company’s culture than fitting with the job.
For more information about hiring to fit with your company’s culture you may check out our HR solution called CULT. 😃🤠

Here's a fine example of Empathetic Leadership in the Real-world
Empathy has always been a critical skill for leaders, but it is taking on a new level of meaning and priority. Far from a soft approach it can drive significant business results.
We always knew demonstrating empathy is positive for people, but new research demonstrates its importance for everything from innovation to retention. Great leadership requires a fine mix of all kinds of skills to create the conditions for engagement, happiness and performance, and empathy tops the list of what leaders must get right.
As such, it is now more critical than ever to appreciate and adopt the Empathy principles and tools of Design Thinking to become a better leader at not just understanding your people but also the challenge and thus make effective decisions for business growth.

This read is for those who are neutral yet curious about how AI (_artificial_ intelligence) can be used effectively and consciously…….. interesting sharing by SoftBank’s CEO Masayoshi Son of his personal experience with AI!

“The renowned Champagne house has released a new expression of its Champagne, Ruinart Blanc Singulier Edition 18, which it describes as a “nature-led cuvée that tells the story of a singular year as impacted by environmental factors.”
In Design Thinking (Experience Design) we often mention about “storytelling… storytelling…” right? Well, here’s another form or way rather to tell a story - through the products we create. When products are passionately created to tell a story about something that’s dear to us, the impact is amazing…….. we hope 😅
Background: Ruinart is the oldest established Champagne house in the world, *exclusively* producing champagne since 1729. Ruinart has had a long-standing relationship with the Arts ever since its inception.

Is it about the food or the dining experience?
For the most part we can’t even tell the diff between no-star vs 1-star….. let alone from 3-stars down to 2 😂 hahahahahahahhaha LOL
So in our humble opinion, it boils down to the ENTIRE dining experience. We can confidently share with you that they most probably lost their 3rd star not becoz of the food but the ENTIRE dining experience 😉
However, there’s a saving grace…. Design Thinking can help you do Experience Design and Service Design and not lose your stars 😘
Food For Thought:
The rating wasn’t created to motivate the chefs and guide the diners, it’s created to fan the egos of the chefs and the diners.
Legendary Chef Guy Savoy’s Paris Restaurant Lost Its Third Michelin Star in the 2023 Guide In all, 25 restaurants lost stars, while just one was added to France’s three-star ranks.
Celebrating creation is more than just about being creative - it’s about celebrating life and the things we are passionate about that makes living so beautiful.
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a solar-cell-powered electric car designed with fashion designer Virgil Abloh. The nearly six-metre long show car was designed with a transparent front bonnet, underneath which sits solar cells that would be used to charge the battery. The car was designed by Abloh, collaboratively with Mercedez-Benz chief design officer Gorden Wagener, as a "responsible vision of future design."
Foolproof - we will succeed when even a fool understands what is it that we are trying to achieve.
Follow us….. https://lnkd.in/grfK-3rc
This means that the level and quality of service we deliver must be consistently at the same level/quality; but the type of services is never the same for every customer…. becoz all of us have different needs and likes.
When we combine the two it then becomes *Customer-centric Service Excellence*. And the only way to be customer-centric is by applying the Empathy methodologies of Design Thinking in Business. 😉
